GFG from GF on decs with 6mm of rain on Thu. Medium to Stiff ENE Wind = 3/4 Tailwind fom Right. Elusive Epona's Breeze VT a negative. Looks to have some bulk in gather area but probably smaller. Looks plain small when the camera angle changes. Shows a fast, short and somewhat scratchy action while holding her head fixed and little nodding. Perhaps 60s on what she showed but needs her action to loosen up a bit and use herself better. All Breeze summaries written pre-race so we can compare the take in the previous paragraph on Elusive Epona's Breeze against those who sold & bought her, then reversed roles and sold & bought her again. Here is the Middleham Park Racing sales pitch = "She is a good moving filly who breezed particularly well. Her action would suggest she wants fast ground as she has quite a low daisy cutting action which is ideal as we have been forecast a very warm summer and Royal Ascot is normally rattling fast!!! We loved her attitude in her breeze and the consignors recommended her to us and were more than happy to keep a quarter share in her as a racehorse, something they have never done before!!!!". Is her action Short-n-Scratchy or Daisy-Cutting (which isn't a quality matter)? Agree that she'll be better on faster ground since her scratchy action means she takes a lot of strides per furlong and that is going to tire her out on a suface which isn't giving anything back. And here is Fahey's sales buying man Robin Ryan adding his gush for how marvelous EE was, err is... might be... = "We ended up with about 18 horses on our list this week and this filly was one of them, I like her alot and she definitely wasn't expensive. We expect her to start over 6 furlongs but could get the Guineas trip of a mile as a 3yo." Blimey, first it's Royal Ascot then it's the Guineas and our smaller scratcher hasn't got started yet over 5f. |
