- Disqualified for 8 years in April 2013 following a rushed disciplinary process. 11 horses had returned postive tests following an unannounced Testing procedure by the BHA at his Moulton Paddocks facility. Zarooni quickly admitted to having doped the horses and gave a list of others he has also adminstered injections to. With Sheikh Mohammed apparently insisting on the matter being resolved ASAP the BHA hearings and final decision took less than 3 weeks when several months, at least, would be the usual duration. Zarooni insisted that he had worked entirely alone in procuring the doping preparations, importing them to the UK if necessary (he had also doped horses in Dubai by his own statements), and adminstering them. The only 'help' had apparently been very junior staff who had been asked to hold the horses while the injections were adminstered by Zarooni.
- The BHA when challenged by other parties, such as journalist Greg Wood, insisted that there had been no cover-up and that other investigations were ongoing into other employees of Godolphin and into the management structure at Zarooni's stables. The only outcome of this was that the BHA published a document highlighting the numerous problems with the management structure at Moulton Paddocks and gave a number of recommendations to improve them that needed to be implemented. Soon after this Charlie Appleby, despite having been an Assistant to Zarooni and nominally one of his second-in-commands who oversaw the previous toxic shambles, was licensed by the BHA to take over the running of Moulton Paddocks.
- Mahmood Al Zarooni. New trainer in Britain for Godolphin in 2010. Previously training in Dubai and had winners on the Dubai World Cup card. Based in Newmarket and will share horses with Saeed Bin Suroor. Ahmed Ajtebi to be main stable jockey.
