=== Post Race ===

MaJo said Gold Medallion had worked with King's Pavillion & gave impression GM works better. Said he had told jk here that GM should be good enough to win this if KP could run so well in Div I. MaJo saying he thought this one might go to Royal Ascot but was worried how up-behind & backward physically GM had looked in the prelims (in comparison to others here rather than looking at GM in comparison to his unready types at home).

====

Yet another of those early 6f events which can attract useful horses getting going early for a possible Royal Ascot run. 2014 edition a bit thin but 2013 saw Group 1 winner Toormore pull clear with useful Ertijaal. 2012 won clearly by the Coventry 5th & Group place Artigiano. 2011 won by the Coventry 3rd St Barths. Two divisions in 2010 won by duel Group winner King Torus and unplaced Coventry runner Sheer Courage. Nothing in the 2009 edition but the 2008 version won by Chesham winner Free Agent with US Grade 1 winner Donativum & US Graded winner Battle Of Hastings behind.

0.73s slower than Div I and seemed a different Race Shape with and average pace. Field racing Centre track here compared to Stands Side spread in Div I. This race plaed out like a usable pace with a 2f kick at the finish and the gaps at the finish more due to relative effort raised in the last 2f (oplus some green ones) rather than mass fading as in Div I.

Johnston interviewed after the race and said Gold Medallion had worked with King's Pavilion and told jk kirby he thought GM would "be more than good enough to win this race". GM confidently ridden and always on top inth elast 2f but not showing any extra zip but going on strongest at the finish. As with the winner of the first Div Johnston seemed to think GM was a 2yo to run at Royal Ascot. Looking lesser quality than WDept.

Shahbar big and likeable (changed much compared to his yearling video?) and similar quality to GM at least.

Spencer ensuring the flashy Lagenda got well behind and never involved. Should be around 75 but need and average or under Open Maiden.

[June 11th = Kafoo a bit green but given a hugely non involving ride by Hanagan which seems to be the MO with the majority of Hamdan debuts in recent years. A slightly slow break and alread being hauled back by Hanagan when the horses either side of him hanging in to him and squeezing him back. Jk then allowing him to sit last and even go a bit off the back (green) around halfway before some vague niggling. Kafoo plugging on at a low level for minimal asking but into a distan 5th past some of the faders etc. Just a medium side and a smaller and less lengthy version of his better sibling (Burwaaz). Should be 70+ and usable but not a strong 75+ contender. Presumably Hanagan might let him show what he can do STO. ]
