SUMMARY
SGS from GS on Decs. 6mm Watering previous Weds and rain on Sun.

Rail Fully in.

Cold with a Stiff to Strong Southerly Wind = Direct Headwind in the HS uphill.

=== Pre Race ===

Breeze Video for Griffin Street suggesting GS neatly made but probably too small, Dinky or Toy? Shows only a medium cadence despite the short legs, etc. Goes straight but slower time probably. Too small?

King Robert cost 84% more than GS at the same sale and bigger than GS but perhaps only smaller to smaller-medium size. Some body length and a medium build. Action a touch faster than average. Breeze Video showing him looking a bit spooky in the breeze, Starts off jinking right then left and the rider using whip slaps on the neck and still arguing with KR coming to the last 1f. Settles down a bit in the last 1f but KR then part hurdles a strip of rough ground under repair (why is it there and others have jumped it too?). Smaller type and gallops ok when organised. Trainer Smart doesn't mind smaller ones. Usable 60s.

=== Post Race ===

Ridiculously Slow Time. What the hell happened here?

First pass look at race would suggest the slow time a mix of issues. Firstly, rain and slow ground with a notable direct headwind. Second, a slower pace with a Leading Trio forming up but going within themselves for the most part and the others stacked behind. The first 3 home all tucked in behind the Leading trio until the last 1f+ and presumably aided by a number of lengths by that. The first 3 through halfway all failing to stay and fading back notably in the last 1f. First 3 home staying on only and working their way through or around the fading leading trio in various ways. Fishergate sat in 3R on rail alone to past Halfway (most cover) and found a clear run out wide to go 1L+ clear but fading late on. King Robert taking time to squirm through a gap which gave Fishergate his break but KR a similar size and bettter mover and heading him late on but KR fading at the line. Final 1f taking something like a notably slow 16 secs. Perhaps it was a solid pace and big fades rather than a slow pace?

Chicago School failed to stay 5f here on debut with GF and a X-wind which raised issues over him staying. The niggle over his 'neat' size borne out here and medium in the field at most. On debut had wandered right/left as he tired and looking a bit hesitant in the last 2f running in the centre of the leading trio. None of the head down trying from debut. Started to wander L/R again before 1f out this time and jk over-reacted and got himself unbalanced and slapping the horse down the neck. That, plus CS's hesitance and KR wriggling through a gap alongside meant CS hampered notably to 1f out and eased. But, CS goiing backwards anyway by that point. No Tweet from the 'Willoughby' project and Breezer time acolytes wrt to this run by CS.

Mininggold showing pace and ok travelling FTO but faded notably in the last 0.5f on a flat 5f with faster going. Looking a solid size in this field and perhaps running a bit free in the first 2f. Ended up widest in the leading trio and another solid fade in tougher conditions and looks like a short runner at present but with 70 nursery scope iin the north.

Tikthebox leading on the rail and a similar size to CS but less neatly made and less power. Seemed to run his race and abother fader. Lower 60s?

Adherence the smallest and most compact. Seemed outpaced even in these conditions last 2f. A bit odd if you watch the extended run out because Adherence ending up pulling past the 1st 3 home (all held to pull up) at the top of the hill around the bend.

What quality the 3 staying on from cover and off the pacemaking line in the last 1f+ to fill the first 3 places?

[June 16th] Fishergate driven along from the break and either not responding or lacking the pace to go with the others. Ended up in 3R on the rail and niggled along at times. With the pace folding back from 2f out Fishergate worked out to a clear run in centre field and able to get 2L ahead with that clear run. Stalling and fading last 0.5f and also hanging left. Fishergate looking to use his range fine as a positive. But, looking smaller if not plain small. 1 size & perhaps 2 sizes less build than Mininggold when going past that filly. Enough pace for a fast 5f? Any better than the 60s his size suggests. Seems a vulnerable favourite type with two places to his name, one against the 'Queen Mary second' (a bogus comparison, what horses has he beaten?).
