Strong to Stiff WSW Wind = 3/4 Headwind from R in BS, helpful on the bend, 3/4 Tailwind from L in the HS. === Post Race === Poor use of nearly £5k of prize money. Where was everybody? The only limitation in the race conditions was the 2yos must be 'EBF eligible', which, at a guess, around 80% of the total are. Mustnt Grumble the narrowest and least power in the group. A5 While seetting a very slow pace in the BS and partly the cause of the very slow time. Teversham a similar size to MG but a bit more bulk. But, as LTO Teversham sweaty and wanting to get on with it. Jk took decision to go to the lead before the bend. Did not increase the pace much but Teversham a bit better settled in front. Race turned into a sprint in the, less than 2f, home straight (HS) with Teversham having a 1.5L head start on the other pair. Stalling late on and headed. Mustnt Grumble looking mid 50s and Teversham perhaps just over 60. Stan Moore gets rare FTO wins and this one 'does not count' because of the exceptional circumstances. In such weak, and flawed, race/field then 'anything' could win. As Repeat Offender proved by being green overall but still winning. The slow pace enable the, mostly hard driven, RO to get into the race and make some ground back on the bend to be around 1.5L back of the lead as the 'sprint' started in the HS. Still green and only getting to the lead late by staying. but, a comfortable winner in the end and pricking his ears. Repeat Offender a negative on his 1yo picture which made him look weak and small and raw. Has develped ok from that but still the same sort of shape. Short legged and the shortest in thsi field and still a bit front heavy. But, bulked up ok within that frame and the strongest build of the 3. Can improve for nous but seems a 60s one that found a soft race. Might have some scope to improve in 7f nurseries given he looked to be staying on. But, that depends what he would get for winning this? Inclined to think if he ran in a Nursery STO the BHA handicapper would give hime something like 72 when he hasn't run into the 50s in reality here. The 72 being a big guesstimate the handicapper is forced into by the OR system in Britain. |
