SUMMARY
GSG by race time. GS in early AM from GGS on Decs.

Outer HS in use. Stalls Centre.

Medium Westerly Wind = Half Headwind from the R.

=== Pre Race ===

Breeze Video for Dutch Mist showing a smaller to smaller medium filly and entirely sire typical, Chestnut IP barrel with some depth. Relaxed during the whole 1f+ gather the Video starts with. Goes straight in centre track with an above average cadence. Just medium reach but balanced and rolls along fine. Should be an easy horse to pace in PRev just by checking size.

Haggas in 215 making Emerald Bay sound like another small owner-bred that needs getting out early to try to win something. Haggas managing to say "not very big" rather than the bizarre "not over-big" construct but still cannot be man enough to say "small". Notes that she is willing and has some speed and he thinks she will need fast ground (small with a fast low action?). Said he would like to get her going in April or May so why the laste start? Another who sounds placeable on the ability scale by size given she sounds a certain 'type'.

Jewellery Quarter another owner bred (retainee). Osborne gets quite close to saying negative thins about her in 215 saying she is "wiry". Another he wanted to get going in April/May but out late. Again saying she is willing (something that often comes up when trainers are struggling to find positives). Osborne then dops into 'British Racing Defence' by saying she is "not slow" so 'might have a chance in early season". All sounds a bit like a small one who may have missed her boat.

A hat-trick up with the 215 comments about Love On The Rocks which includes "not over-big" & will be "running in April/May". This race seems to be attracted a lot of smaller zippy ones who are getting out late. Hills' saying she is temperamental but has a "straightforward action". More positive than average about her including using the 'RA' phrase.

Modest more of the same and referred to by Bell in 215 as a "real little 2yo pocket rocket". Slightly oddly then says she would be ok over 6f = why do that when you have made her sound like a ready 5f sprinter? Modest missed 5f races she was declared for (WD stalls & going) before a 6f debut. Rocketed out of the stalls which caught Frank out who found huimself leading and never getting Modest under control. Stable website saying after that run she would drop back to 5f. Would expect PRev to show her to be advertised. A small but strongly built one and forward going and wanting to get on with it.

=== Post Race ===

Field racing centre with stalls centre. Picture of the field at Halfway :-

Need to add some PRev comments because Shaden would not be in top half of candidates to win. What happened? Picture shows Cinders in the lead pointing her toe (purple, #1, say 75), Love In The Mist (yellow & blue, #6, 78, not ready for day) behind her, Dutch Mist (Beige, dark cap, 72 but check movement). On the wings of the picture are two different smaller ones. Far right is Modest (yellow, red cap, 60s) who is solidly built but too small a frame and limited by that. To far left is the smaller and lightly built Mysterious Look (blue, yellow sleeves, 58) who was in good condition and OT in prelims but underpowered. Walking around behind LOTR and probably 1-2 sizes smaller and 2 sizes less well built. Shaden in rear and not visible and the win owe anything to a too strong pace? Shaden a taller but shallow bodied and lighter built one. Looking low to mid 60s and a bit underpowered against the best here = check whether pictures show up any mistake in assessing her.

Pictures of Shaden (left) & Rebel Surge (right, very fit but a bit small & dinky looking) below. Make someone wonder whether the front of this race wasn't very good and perhaps some better fillies behind. Shaden a bit more build than registered but still a surprise winner.

[June 16th] Odd Race Shape with an Average or slower pace and the first 8 fillies through Halfway covered by 2L and spread across the Centre line. Race developed into a 2f sprint in the last 2f witht he fillies wide spread. Shaden presumably showing something a bit extra to get from 2L back at halfway to lead by 0.5f out. But, niggles over what that amounted to and looking smaller than LOTR & Cinders doing it.

Dutch Mist ridden by jk Latham with Spencer on Modest (jk has long associations with both the Bell & Ryan yards). Slowish break but, unlike Frank, the jk active and DM able to sit comfortably in the leading line and less than 1L back at Halfway. Looking a bit green but lacking the pace to go with the leading 4 in the 2f sprint and dropping 1-2L off the leading line. Staing on a bit late on. Smaller medium ball and not showing much range in front. Almost at the extent of looking a touch pottery in front. Not handling the loose going? Better on GF?. 70+ to some exten but not a certain STO converter in an overall average maiden. Steps up to 6f STO which looks right and in a £10k bonus fillies race in the north which looks thinner than an 'overall Average Open M.aiden'.
