SUMMARY
GGF by Race Time. G from GGS on Decs early am.

Stiff to Medium Westerly Wind - 3/4+ Headwind from the Right.

Race usually Divides but just 10 runners this years and a WFS Maiden and NOT a true Auction race. See revised Conditions of the race at the bottom of this box.

Fahey SL piece day before race = "There wouldn’t be a lot between Caribbean Charm and Cotton Camera. Both are ready to start out and I hope they run well but this could be a decent maiden."

=== Post Race ===

Some early thoughts - why are Fahey's comments about his 2yo runners and the races they are running in so often way out? Richard, it was a moderate maiden and even that might be overselling it. Also, while accepting Conspiracy Theories are a lazy labour saving device when faced with complexity/nuance - what has the all messing about with Halsall been for? You find youself cheering for Taking Libertys to nut Halsall on the line for no other reason than to sink the 'Plot'. Halsall a 2nd string for the owner at RDCR on Monday but an NR and the Fahey trained runner for the owner won. Conveniently Halsall has only a 'Pricked Foot' and the owner forks out to get a Vet's Cert so Halsall can be declared that day to run here instead. Whereupon O'Meara's other runner and the likely favourite becomes an NR here when the going had changed from GGS to G. Which means First Bombardment wont be running on anything firmer than GGS this season? Come on TL my son...

=== Post VRev ===

Race which usually has varied weights as an Auction race but different here but a typical field (although the race normally divides). Race has an ok history of producing subsequent winners althoughg most sun Open Maiden level down tot he poorest level. Has produced OR85 types over the years mostly from Fahey although occasional better ones lurking in the cheaper types - e.g. the small Fratellino. This looking a typical quality and nothing in the group looking real term 75+ and the runners will be kicking around similar races in the North, probably against each other a fair bit.

Halsall a smaller and complete/ready physical type now. Little or no scope. Looking fit for the day. Pinged the start and allowed a very easy time in the lead on the rail. Even so fading back late on and overhauled on the line with the 3rd home also closing on him. Some sort of 60s that will end up in nurseries and vulnerable to anything bigger and will not get an easier time than he did here again.

Taking Liberties also a smaller one and green at various points through the race. Given that he seemed to run a bit above his size by closing Halsall down for 5L from Halfway and still 6th towards 1f out. Managing to close off a usable pace. Inclined to think some of that the lack of overall quality int he race. But, presume some TL might be 70+ but not one to follow.

King's Mimic a bit more size than the first two home and ran well enough and would have been closer at the finish but for hanging both ways in the last 1f. Say a 70 and ok quality for Northern Auction races.

Arranmore Girl started off next to the rail and worked left through the field in the last 2f to end up in centre track and still going forward a bit. Has a bit more bulk than some here and some very minor promise at this level. But, with Tinkler as trainer those sort of thoughts entirely academic. Best of luck AG.

Cotton Camera with Hamilton riding and should be the Fahey 1st string over one he still owned (WD). Ran a bit wide and a bit free but an early fade even so. No real interest but the type Fahey is very good at putting into a winnable race.

Bill Turner has not had a winner yet and worrying times for him. Thee An Me very expensive by his standards and another Turner debut not finishing the race off. Not helped by the wobbly Grandson riding but TAM seemed to produce less later in the race than expected given he travelled ok . Part of that due to hanging right and perhaps not fit. But less promise than you would want for a usable Turner one FTO and no difference in size to the general level .

Romantic Comedy probably the smallest and weak fronted. A trier but too small and overpowered and fading early even in this group. Low 50s? Workaday also smaller but with a bit of build positive. Green and a slow start from the widest draw and then ran too free. Got tired early but that not a complete no-no for a TDE FTO. At least see whether Workaday has some development potential for low lvel nurseries (say, 56?) or the like.
