SUMMARY
GF as on decs in early AM. Watering noted but no details given other than to say they will be putting 5mm of water onto the track during the morning before racing. The going desription and GStick reading are from 06:30am before this watering. The HYDK CoC - Kirkland Tellwright - has gained a visibility and reputation over the last 2-3 years for having Going Descriptions which bare little relation to the actual state of the going. Along with other symptoms such as Going changes from GF to GS after the first race. If you are a trainer taking your horse to the course you see GF (8.7) in the early morning but have no idea what the track will be like when you arrive after the watering. At the very least there is likely to be a loose, damp top to the going and divots being kicked up in a way that should not happen with GF.

Inner course in use. Actual Race Distance is 6f 198 yds = 6.90f & not 7f.

Medium to Light ESE Wind = close to Direct Tailwind.

=== Pre Race ===

Breeze Video for Carlovian is a negative overall. Looking medium size but with length and a somewhat shallow body. A 7f debut here in line with that and not a deep bodied sprinter of many of the Breeze Videos to date (and the type the Breeze sales are for along with the increasing interest in timing). Sub 70 on looks and belwo that take on a slow and idsorganised breeze. Starts off by veering left and has an awkward wide action in front and a bit disorganised overall. Slower cadence. Hanging right later on and fading by the end of the Breeze. In the wrong sale.

Gosden in 215 saying Hayadh looks more like his 'Linamix' female Grandsire than Oasis Dream. A rangy grey for 7-8f. Earliest 7f debuts for Gosden in recent years cover the whole ability range for season maidens who never placed to Kingman. Only 2 x FTo early 7f wins have been Kingman and Pouncing. Not many places other than those. Hayadh reads more like the useful end of those early 7f debuts given the high sales price and the trainer seeing him as a 7-8f type. Why bother to get him out in June at the first possible chance at 7f if you think he is a development stayer. He shouldn't be a small one that HAS to be out early to win before thew bigger horses arrive and raise the quality bar too high.

Hayadh's yearling video making him look a bit less like a rangy stayer than Gosden suggests early in 2yo year. Medium size, deep bodied right trhough but just above average body length. Slightly long neck which he holds down at the walk to produce a straight top line form ears to tail. Balanced and uses himself well in the walk. A solidly built medium one or has he grown?

Earliest batch of 7f debuts for MaJo usually solid 75+ quality and mostly season winners and include debut wins in 3 of last 4 seasons. Including FTO win for the 1st x 3 7f debuts in 2011. Space Mountain a mixed pedigree out of a sprint dam. Picture on Johnston website a negative making him look a smaller and ready type and not a typical Johnston 'Boaty Stayer'. Ok build but he might be one getting out early because he is on the smaller side. But, given the readiness of MaJo debuts this year could that be enough in this race even if he isn't the best longer term prospect?

=== Post Race ===

[June 24th] Average or slower Pace to the race. Notable lull from 3f out to 2f out and allowing the field to close up together in the CZ. Race then turned into a 2 'sprint' between horses looking like gallopers. Better 3 separating themselves in the last 1f. Hayadh looking a bit green but after an easy lead going away at the finish. Solid medium+ and a bit IP. George William fading late on and eased in a clear 3rd. Hibou strongly built medium and wearing an XNB. Hauled back to 3R on the bend but able to move forward for little energy in the CZ. Ok effort in the last 2f but done in an ugly way. Head held hard to the right and offerring to hang left. Giving the impression of not going forward fully. That needs fixing and if he does that 3TO down the KTNA HS you could see a solid 75+ one beating him.
