GFG from GGF on Decs. Watering but no details given beyond saying it was "selective". To ensure no-one has any idea what they did. GStick reading from 06:30am, 12 hours before the race with a dry & warm day forecast. Medium+ NW wind = Half Headwind. === Post Race === [July 2nd] Bochart running better than Estimate reads. Too free for the first half of the race and A3 jk unable to stop him pulling into Leading Pair. Travelled fine to 2f out and a solid effort even though still a bit green. Led bef0re 1f out but then stalling & fading earlier in last 1f and re-passed by Welford by-0.5f and that pair passed by outpaced then staying on Spongy late. Bochart drops to fastish 6f 3TO which looks ok and some scope to improve if he settles and races fully professionally. Looking a strongish, neat medium. [July 17th] Felt and odd race at the time with Nietzsche & Bluebeard, an odd couple, both running poorly and Spongy seeming to improve and win by staying on. Seems more understandable now with the first 3 all running well NTO and to higher ratings. Presume the underperformers just failed for some reason which, as punters, we have no information about. We might be told after the race. Nietzsche looking a solid size and a loose mover. Solid 75+. Hauled back to 2R early on and ran a bit free downhill to halfway. But not enough free running to explain to lack of response and tame fade from 2f out. The sort of effort the Stewards have to ask about. Still the niggle about the unusual use of a shadow roll by Haggas. Nietzsche runs 3TO down to 6f which looks fine and after a 29 day break. Perhaps a longer break to fix something we haven't heaard about? Give him another chance 3TO and see what PRev brings and whether he loks a solid 75+ and more professional overall. |
