CoC quote = "Inner running rail of straight is dolled out 5yds at 6f and 2yds at the winning line".

=== Pre Race ===

Looked through all of Johnston's runs to date and the, large seeming, number of his 2yos that have produced 10+ rating point jumps in consecutive runs. Some after having looked set at a certain Class Level. A number of those than running back to lower levels on the later run after the peak. Something to check against previous season's development paths at some point. Fashionable Spirit looking improved LTO and presumably will jump past Whatdoiwantthatfor to lead ont he rail. That LTO improvement built on, or missing?

For a bit of context about the quality & types in the race a look back over the last 3 years. 2012 runner-up Miss Diva (Hannon) had been 12th in the Queen Mary but only won one race in her entire career of 14 races (5f maiden at WDSR in May at 2yo). Got rated OR90 at 2yo but never was that level in Absolute Terms. Ended her 3yo career beaten off OR80 (equal to the highest Time Rating she ever got). The filly that beat her by a nose in this race ended her 3yo career off OR68 and only ever won this race.

The 2013 winner Majestic Alexander had won a WTON race on an early debut and the win in this race her last. Ended up rated OR95 at 2yo but being well beaten in better quality races. Did not appear to run after 2yo and the best Time figure she got was 81. The rest of the field managed 2 later career wins in total, both by July as 2yos which most of the field sub-75 in real terms. 2 never ran after 2yos. The Stoute trained runner up was OR83 when 3rd in a weak Group 3 and upped to 99. 3 well beaten runs at 3yo in a Group & 2 Listed races and retired. Highest Time figure she ever got was 74.

Only 3 runners in 2014 with the Hannon trained winner - Dangerous Moonlite - having won a 5f Maiden in May then been 10th in the Queen Mary. She was upped to OR96 (inflated as 50%+ of ORs are at 2yo) after winning this race. She has run twice more at 2yo and 5 times as a 3yo in 2015. Her OR is down to 81 and last of 6 beaten 16L earlier this week. The best time figure she has ever run to is 74. Beware of the 'Race Standardisation' mindset and the places it leads you to. Understand the context and what the times say. If the winner of this race is better than that 3 year pattern it should show as something 'Different'. Visually in PRev or the race, and in the times that match those visual clues.
