GFG by race time. GGF in early am from FGF on Decs. CoC quote = "Inner running rail of straight is dolled out 10yds at 6f and 5yds at the winning line. ". === Post Race === Some immediate post race thoughts. Thin race and Belvoir Bay lacking size and scope but showing some zip above above her size FTO after running green for the first half of the race. BB breaking best here in centre and able to comfortably sit 1 off the rail while Stormflower did her usual leading & going too free act. Then fading early but still hanging on for 2nd an indication of the quality and/or readiness elsewhere. After the race the Orange Teenager (and really demonstrated it with a nudge-nudge comment to the owner) trying desperately to get Hughes & then Hannon to say BB was 'Black Type' class. Hughes saying it was a moderate race and BB did what she had to. Hannon brushing the 'Black Type' off with a similar comment about it being 'Median Auction' etc. and BB is well short of Black Type at present and will go into nurseries. . Worth noting the 'Form' of the Dascombe 2yos after a long break when he had no runners. A debut winner over the weekend and two places on the day by 2yos who ran poorly in early season and better on their return. Neither place amounted to much but at least 'best of the rest' level and running to their, lesser, ability. Check pictures on Justice Lady. Too green here and niggled along from early. Mildly hampered on the rail when she might (ought to?) have plugged on late to dispute a Volunteer 3rd. === Post VP === PRev making the take of a lesser race with a competent Belvoir Bay able to win by being competent and into the 70s. Hard to find a 70+ type in the group behind. Some with a bit of build positive (Canford Belle & Justice Lass for eg), but smaller and limited by that. Looking for usable 60s behind a big gap from the winner. Pace stiff enough for only BB to finish the race off. |
