=== Pre Race ===

Not expecting much from the Breeze Video for Dougal Magic given he cost £15k. In the gather he looks a bit more promising than that and perhaps 60 usable. Not sire typical shape, lacking depth behind and with some length. But some strength in front and moving ok bouncing along part held. Breeze a let-down and negative. Whole action looks too busy and disorganised. Left foreleg twisting around in an odd way and painful to watch. Does a slow looking breeze, never looking organised and haging right when put under pressure.

Cool Crescendo also cost £15k at the DBS 2yo sale. Breeze Video showing a smaller one in the gather. Shallow bodies and lengthy type of sire. Gawky & weak looking neck plonked on top. Looking young and underpowered. Moves more correctly than Dougal Magic (not hard) but slower cadence and hard to imagine this one will stay at 6f and 7f lightweight. Does a slow breeze and looking green, head up and gawping the whole way. Never going forward and staring at everything instead. Rider just there for a lift apparently and doing little. First runner for trainer and 10% short career SR and website suggested an organised set-up. Run competently within the physical limitations?



=== Post Race ===

Not a strong pace, a solid and usable one aside from the leader at Halfway, but field spread back over a big distance at halfway in 2s & 3s. Some green but also good portions of low ability ones and any being ridden for the future? Inside 5 draws in half of a 10 stall set and a ragged start from them all. Which left Mecca's Missus able to jog over to the rail and lead but then headed after 2f by Ada Misobel making an extended effort from Draw 2, one from the Widest (a suicide mission).

Mecca's Missus taking the lead before 2f out and staying on well enough to hold off the placed horses who made real ground on her after halfway but flagging themselves by the finish. Popsies Joy run looking no fluke and running to a new form level. Letbygonesbeicons in a remotish chasing 2nd until fading in the last 1f. Master Mirasol running wide and not following the early XF by MM. But looking smaller than MM and lacking much of a later race kick. Misjudged from debut VRev. Worth checking whether the STO SPs for Ryan have been more informative than normal in 2015. In 2010-14 you would have made a profilt backing all his STO drifters and a loss backing all his STO supported horses.

Probably a Garbage Gap back from the front 3 but check how Bond's Tricks develops.

[Jul 14th] Watched the Bond's Tricks run fully. Not standing out for size but a solid build. Green throughout the race and hampered and having to switch left or right on, at least, 3 different occasions losing ground and momentum. Low level rating but capable of 10-14lbs better for running competently and not getting hampered. Has a middle draw over 5f at BVLY STO so following him will probably mean knowing your fate before 1f is run. One way of looking at Mick Easterby's 2013-14 Shawesque record of a single individual winner from 32 different 2yos is he has finally lost it (whatever small part of it he had) at 84. Another is that he ought to regress to his mean and have 2-3 winners in 2015. He hasn't had a runner record a positive rating yet in 2015 but his odd winners never were part of a 'Form Wave'.
