F in early AM as on Decs. Going Stick Reading too frightening to make Public again. Slow Time for the conditions with Ower Fly allowed an Easy Lead on the rail. ============ Ower Fly another of those wins by a Hannon 2yo where, if you watch in detail, they have done the vast majority of small things right to enable a horse to win when they may not be the best horse in the race. OF not the biggest in the field but in excellent condition STO. Bright coat and fit and the muscles he has showing up. A bit too well and On Toes at the post and whipping round and some coli. Then gets buzzy in the stalls and needs holding by a handler. But, unlike many other stable's 2yos this does not get out-of-hand and OF pings the break from the widest stall and is 1L clear immediately. Then able to cross to the rail and slow the pace down. Which means OF has everything in his favour and the other Jks just sit back and let it happen. OF offerring at times to run too free but, again, it doesn't get out-of-hand and end up as an energy draining fight. Able to delay his final effort until 1.5f out and a willing effort. Able to see off the smaller Port Gaverne in the last 0.5f and able to hold off the late effort of In Haste who had run inefficiently in the last 2f. Job Done to get a win for a £1,000 retainee and with the minimum of fuss over 2 runs. Late 60s? Port Gaverne not put into the race FTO but was here. Able to sit 2nd to a slower Pace after needing a bit of niggling to get going after the break. With the Jk on OF waiting to make his final effort PG able to make up some ground and challenge 1.5f out. Low level plugging on until fading out late and not getting home in these fast conditions off a Slower pace. Smaller than OF and seems Size limited and the question 0f - Even 60? still stands. In Haste running for a trainer who gets competitive FTOs and Front-loads. Work picture suggesting might be a usable type of the sire but the picture angle making Size hard to judge. Similar frame to OF if a bit less strong front. But, seems to have more range and use it. Travelled at least as well as the winner in 2R on the rail but left with no gap inside the last 2f with OF/PG duelling on together of the Slower Pace. IH taking a long time to switch out towards centre track to get a clear run and hanging a bit right and taking time to get going, partly because green. Did ok in the context of this group in the last 0.5f+ to get past the fading PG and make 1L+ on OF who did not fade. Given a more efficient run through the race would have challenged for the win. 70? or a bit under? Note that trainers STO runs can be variable off these sort of debuts. Home Again a relatively expensive purchase for Fretwell and a believable 2yo pedigree if possibly better 5f+. A disappointing type in VRev for the money. Short legged and a bit too much body length making look a bit 'long' and no chance of his hindlegs over-lapping the forelegs at the walk. Upright front to go with the overall 'short fat bloke' type. Strongly enough built but not looking neatly put together. Ran too free here which included veering right on the earliest slight LH bend and some high action slight fly leaping in front (check whether this is structural). Even given that found very little towards 1.5f out and then hanging R&L as he stalled and faded early. Did not look properly fit. Another looking short of Open Maiden level and OR60s and a number of niggles here to see whether he has fixed for STO. Wicked Woo not looking fit not mentally sharp. Able to keep up to the slower pace but outpaced 2f out and an early fade. Ok build int he group and check for minor development potential. J'Aime Le Francais Taller one in this group but narrower and less bulky. Too green and wound up to compete. Got notably restless int he stalls and a slow start. Seemed to be struggling to get back to the group even to the Slower Pace set. Head held to the right and looking a bit green overall. No KA. Looking outpaced before 2f out and another Hanging R&L before an early fade. Check for usable 50s. |
