=== Post Race ===
Stalls Stands Rail to Centre track spread. As the picture above shows the field never formed up into any sort of Group. With Irish Cailin hammering along going too freely in Centre track (Blue & Pink far right) the Pace a bit too strong and putting everyhting under pressure to hang on. No time to start niceties like dropping in, etc. Winner Midnight Malibu is in second (Black, light purple sleeves & cap) going within herself. Second placer Anagallis raises a question over what the form is worth, she is in midfield on the far side in Maroon with white seams. Lower draws (centre) doing best. Picture below shos IC & MM at Halfway. Irish Cailin the biggest and strongest of the fillies but going too hard/free in the lead here.
[July 6th] After VRev and some further inclined to have a more upbeat view of the race. Auction Fillies race of this type can often be pretty empty. Initial reaction was that McCabe & Menuisier reps finishing 2nd/4th a problem for the form. The pace was too stiff and put most of the fillies under pressure and overall the entire field folding back together with a few minor exceptions (Anagallis & Jumeirah Star). Slower time because of that but front of the race more solid than initially thought working through the pictures. None of the field looking Open Maiden class but first 4 all ok for similar Auction races to different levels. Plus, a couple of fillies with some build positives in the Group who didn't look ready/right on the day.
First 4 home an ok size & build for this type of race. All 4 are less than neatly made but all showing they can move ok here. Irish Cailin ok strong sprinter within her frame and scope to tighten up. Ran too free here and needs to settle down but can run to around 70 when fully fit and putting a race together professionally.
Midnight Malibu ok frame and solid front. A bit long and lighter build behind but moves fine. Late 60s say.
Trainer McCabe's poor record with 2yos recently setting a negative mindset against Anagallis & not taking time to judge her fully. Well prepared as the trainer's runners usually are but that becomes frustrating when they do not run how_they_look for the most part. Smaller type but slidly built although another lighter behind, also still a bit up behind. Solid lump, and less than neatly made. But, travelled fine in midfield far enough off the pace and ok forward effort at her lower level. Suspect she wouldn't have got to 2nd without the over-Pace but still probably a solid 3rd. 63-66 range? But, the usual niggle about career development for the trainer. On how mature mentally Anagallis appeared perhaps she can win anyway on natural professionalism.
Naziba unready on Debut but better here if still showing a slightly lethargic attitude in prelims. But, keeping up with the pace and sticking at it ok. Say ok for aroun 60 and perhaps higher if develops well.
Angel Of The Night a poor favourite when the field looked at in PRev terms and that does show in the PRev pictures. Lesser type than any of the first 3. Smaller to small, shallow bodied, lacking power and the bandages behind making her less good. Unable to match the pace (running closest to rail any issue?). 50s of some sort.
6th/7th fillies home both of some dvelopment interest in Nurseries. Scarlet Pursuits bulkier than expected although still showing the upright front carriage she did on debut. Not fit enough and not moving her bulk well in the race. Less green than debut although this faster paced race still setting too stiff a task for her. SP of interest as she develops for nurseries. Presume she will make the first 4 in a weak/moderate race 3TO.
Jumeirah Star the most expensive in the field and smaller but solidly built. Another Cowell 2yo looking unfit and unable to perform to her level. Trainer does not show much interest in 2yo races but JS at least making some progress from the rear here later on. Should get into nurseries off a usable OR if she gets fitter and develops mentally (has a sloppy, somewhat lethargis attitude at present).
'Shape' of the final places seems to make sense over with 4 x competitive ones 1st-4th, smaller one as a Poor Fav in 5th followed by two 'bigger' ones, in context but running poorly for their own reasons. The, 5 in the rear who are a mix of lesser types relatively and/ore running for chance killing trainers. Never Say small and lacking togetherness and looking a lesser type here. Reliable trainer might get her competitive low to mid 50s.
No interest in Simply Clever (small, young mentally & underpowered) & Parisianna (narrow & long and presume will be up in trip soon).
