GF in early am as on Decs. 6mm Watering on Weds. GStick reading as 7.3 Far Side, 7.5 Centre, 7.4 Stands Side. Stalls Far Side. === Post Race === Main body of field raced Centre-FarSide strip (wandering aroung L/R a bit) with Cosmopolitan Girl racing alone on the Far Rail. Div II of the race ran grouped down the Far Rail. Field then all collapsed onto the Far Rail inside the last 1f. Sectional Times for the Race which was 0.8secs slower than Div II won by Lumiere. Sectional Times for this race first with Lumiere's in Brackets after :- 1st 1f = 14.90s (15.65) 2nd 1f = 11.64s (11.66) 3rd 1f = 11.54s (11.44) 4th 1f = 11.30s (11.44) 5th 1f = 11.09s (10.65) 6th 1f = 12.44s (11.43) Moderate field for a Major Meeting maiden with the Top End just creeping over 75 in PRev. Greenfyre a baffling favourite lacking size and barely a 70+. Flattered, probably, by the strip she ran on FTO at NWBY and getting a good ride to get the most out of her there. Why would Hughes ride Marenko & Moore on Greenfyre Hughes giving impression he is more interested in starting his training career at present and not insisting on getting the best rides. Although, Marenko presumably a bit better type longer term without looking much better than a 75. [July 24th] Hughes announced last weekend he would be retiring from riding after GWD in early August. Marenko green overall. Notably slow break and adrift early on. Got back to the group ok but in a poor place to get involved in the 2f sprint at the finish. Hanging left as much as going forward inside 2f out. Hughes excepting early this would just be an Educ Intro. Should snap together STO. |
