=== Pre Race ===
A bit more to the race than being a 'Class 4 Maiden' & see the full conditions below. Runners must have been sold at Auction and cost less than 52k/55k depending when sold. Which cuts out expensive purchases as well as owner breds from major breeding outfits. A look down the colours for the race showing this isn't a full-on high class Open Maiden. No Hamdan, Juddmonte, Cheveley Park, Godolphin, etc. Also an odd choice to have this race 3rd up on the card and following on from the Group 2 highlight on the day as Race 2. Presume that is TV deciding the schedule.
Latest work video for Breslin from June 23rd working with 2 other unraced colts (Masterson who debuts later on day at SALS & an unnamed colt by Intense focus). Breslin looking smaller medium height but chunky. Finishes ahead of Unnamed colt but having to work much harder. Masterson 2L back and a bit green and all out to stay with them at the finish.
Chapple-Hyam making Marcel his 'Bargain Buy' in 215 saying he is a big horse. Said he might target him at the 8f maiden at the St Leger meeting but would hope to get him out before that. Talking as if he is a 3o type but hoping he can win at 2yo.
Breeze Video for Ray's The Bar starts into the last 2f. RTB looking a smaller medium one, IP & ok build. Prob a bit too small. Stretches out ok but holds his head to the left and crabbing part sideways throughout. Trier & still a bit green. Latest Work Video shows RTB working with unraced Taurean Star & The Major (poor 3rd/12 FTO in a weak race). RTB starts off behind other pair then asked to pull out and join them. Never quite manages that and looking a trier still but probably just the smallest of the 3. Still holding his head to the right and looking as if going 'shoulder first'.
Sir Renos Santi sold at the same sale as RTB. Looking a similar short type with a bit more body length and bulk than RTB. In the gather moves like a slow galloper but laking size & range. Looks even worse when asked to kick into the gallop. High action in front and disorganised all round. Looked more than just being green and probably just a ragged mover and the 25k for his ok build (which he cannot move as yet).
Breeze Video for Walsingham Grange from the same sale as RTB & SRS. Cost a touch less than RTB and sollidly more than SRS. Probably Smaller medium height and solid build but IP body length. Does a poor breeze and while moving straight looks a slow and laboured mover. Slower cadence, lacking reach and when hustled to do more just strains more somewhere in his back area rather than anything positive showing in his legs and movement. Looking slow, even for 7f.
=== Post Race ===
What went on here? Ray's The Bar unable to win on the Visual clues as they were read. Better than he looks or a funny result in a moderate race? See what the VRev & Sectional Positions say but race 'reads' like a Pace War gone wrong.
