GF in early am from GFG on Decs. 5mm Watering on Tuesday. Stiff+ WSW Wind = Close to Direct Headwind. === Pre Race === Callaghan had his sale cancelled at the DBS 2yo sale = physical issue? Breeze Video showing a smaller medium one with a bit too much length. Slightly narrow. Lacking power in drivetain & looking a bit young & underpowered overall. Uses little range in the Breeze showing a slightly faster than average cadence for less than 1f then slows to average. Looking a bit outpaced over 6f here & staying on? Note headwind. === Post Race === Trainer Dennis has run 3 x Breeze Buys in 2015. Two made poor debuts with Danecase improving a bit to 3TO to win a below 75 race at 20/1. Confirming the visual promise of his breeze. The other 2yo won on Debut here at 33/1. Pick the pattern out of that. Secret Sobriety might 'be anything'. [July 21st] Slow Time even given the Headwind. Halfway Positions mostly point to a usable pace but the winner is a Deep Closer. Whole Field other than the winner not going forward in the last 1f. Prominent Trio who finish 2nd-4th all rollign Far Side in last 1f and finishing the race tired. Inclined to think the Slow Time probably due to a too Fast Pace and nothing, other than the winner, closing due to a mix of how they handled the pace, ability & readiness for the day. A good example of where a set of well crafted Sectional Times would clarify things. Wide range of size and types and the following a few 1 line summaries as a base starter. Dancase only seen at AP. Above medium size and solid build. Ought to be in 72-75 range but how much of win here down to the pace folding so much? Daleelak medium size, lacking a bit of depth and a bit up behind. But, solid build and just about neatly made. Another in the 70-74 range. Presume he will go to nurseries now and may well get 75+. Show Legend smaller medium, ok deep body through and IP body length. A touch size limited and 68-72 range. Lacks scope to grow. St Georges Cross another Showcasing and other than colour similar bulk to SL, perhaps bulkier. But a bit '2 halves' and less powerful behind. Should be 70+ but not putting races together. Presume his first go in a handicap will show what is really expected and whether he is capable of 76-7 efforts. Light Up Life the smallest and easier to sum up. Short and lengthy, lacking power behind. Size lmited lower to mid 50s. Nietzsche different physical type of LUL. Gone from being taking seriously by the Market to a dismissed 20/1 here. Which can be informative with Haggas and another where you presume the trainer had said Nietzsche would be "better in nurseries" type code. One of the tallest and fit for the day. Ok build in front but gives the impression of being weak legged. Not strong enough yet to carry his size. Also too fizzy at times in the prelims (colty, etc) and running green in the race. Should be able to get 76-80 when he is 'ready'. Marcle another expensive one and a slightly odd mix of a touch leggy and a bit compact. Very fizzy through prelims and green in the race. Needs to grow up mentally and a bit immature physically. Looks low to mid 60s at present. Suqoor better than expected. For some reason in the [Prf] work expected a duff one. But Suqoor a solid size and deep and strong overall. Mostly looking like it all fits together. Not quite fit enough and relaxed in prelims to the poitn of clearly not knowing what was happening. Running ok in the race until asked to pick up from racing 4th. Jk said he ran green. Would expect him to be 80+ and snap together STO. Callaghan german bred and has a 7f+ pedigree. Taller, lighter build and rangier than the average in the field. A bit underpowered but mostly neatly made. Looks fine for 70-2 at 7f+. Kestrel Call a 'Type B' Crisford debut = poor and runs to a -ve rating whatever the SP. Well prepared and with an XNB. Some build positive but the second smallest and too 'neat'. Size limited 60ish? A bit green and 'young' in the prelims. Wary if not flipping into be overawed. Carlovian hard to sum up and looks different in various pictures. A shorter on and a bit too lengthy. Ok strength in front but neck too long. Lighter and less good behind. Feels sub 70 in most pictures but ought to be a good 65 in the right race. |
