GGF in early am from GGS on Decs. CoC quote = "The entire length of the rail has been moved out by between 3 and 12 yards.... actual race distance will be: Race 1- 5f 48y (+32y) ". Which 5.22f and not 5f, nor even the minimum distance here which is 5.073f. === Post Race === Jk Norton has a reputation for riding the course well and this perhaps a non-typical example. The 'good ride' here often involving getting tot he lead on the rail, go the shortest route and play with the pace to suit yourself and/or to mess with your opponents. Norton getting a gift here with poor rides by inexperienced A3 riders Joe Doyle (EA) & Hardie (SOS). Norton got Muhadathat out well enough to hold the rail but the jks of El Astronaute & Strands Of Silk happy to press the pace on despite being 1 wide and 2 wide in a Line of 3, with Willsy left behind by the pace and adrift driven along. SOS & to some extent EA sent on suicide missions press the pace on wide of the rail. Norton on Muhadathat having to niggle his horse along around halfway to get him to hold his place in the Lo3 on the rail with the other pair threatening to go past him and drop him back. That move paying off with Muhadathat back in an unhassled lead with SOS already gone and EA lacking some pace. Muhadathat smaller than EA and still showing his splayed action in the last 1f. [July 30th] El Astronaute bigger than the winner and showing more promise than thought, having missed the Video before his NTO win. Lacked some pace of turn into HS but staying on again in the last 1f despite not handling the track and hanging left at that ppoint. Looked like a horse developing mentally & physically. |
