GGF in early am from GSG on Decs. 8mm Rain Thursday, 0.8mm early Sunday. CoC quote = " Inner of Straight has been dolled out 18yds at 6f and 9yds at the Winning Line". Stiff- SSW Wind = 1/2 Tailwind to the intersection, 1/4 Tailwind in the HS. === Pre Race === Breeze Video for Mikiteri showing a recognisable shorter 'Zebedee' in some ways but with a lengthy body. Still a bit up behind. Not a strong Bull/Ball sprinter type and a bit lighter made. Starts the Breeze by jinking away fromt he timing equipment under the rail (how many did that?) and takes time to gets organised after that. Showing just a mediumish speed cadence after that and moving more like a mild galloper than a fast action sprinter. A smaller to smaller medium type but with some length and gallopy movement mixed in. Not convinced that mixture will make the best of the raw material. Find this 6f too fast if a strong pace? Gary Moore in 215 saying that Modello is bigger and stronger than Bronze Maquette (2yo sibling he won a Listed race with and palmed off a little scope ready 2yo for a high price at season end). Adding Modello had showed "him a lot" (of what? Ability? Speed? etc.) in early season but then had started growing. Saw her as a 6-7f type 2yo and different from the younger sibling. Trainer Wall making Song Of Paradise his 'Bargain Buy' in 215. He had the sibling last year who was small but well made and strong and ran well FTO and won STO in December after a break. Says SOP a similar smaller type but strong. Noting that if he had a ready, sharp 2yo then SOP was it. Wall not much interested in 2yo racing but a late July start for his first 2yo runner 3-6 weeks late. SOP still his first runner though so presumably still his most forward 2yo type. Check for 65-70 range usability. === Post Race === Justice Lass & Little Voice similar physical types with JL looking a bit bulkier and a touch better condition. Obvious differences in the race with JL going to the lead on the rail and settling the pace. JL getting a comfortable lead, racing professionally, going the shortest route and produing a solid effort and finishing the race off (down to 6f having not seen out the last 0.5f at 7f LTO). In contrast, Little Voice doing a lot wrong and up to 6f from 3 runs at 5f. Despite 2 x big hold up rides from Spencer previously LV not learnt to settle. LV ridden by Crowley here with Frank at BVLY getting beaten on a 1/8f. LV breaking well from a wider draw and resenting being held back. Shaking head, fighting the jk and Crowley ending up in a battle with her and LV hanging left around Halfway as Crowley hauled her back. LV looking sweatier overall. LV making an ok effort given the pulling but fading back in the last 0.5f having given a head-start and an easy lead to JL. Not convinced by the Hills/Spencer development path for LV and ou think the Hannons would have won something STO with her and she wouldn't be a 4 race maiden with an OR83. LV another spot on example of a typical Hills' stable type going back decades. Early debut, take ages to win and end up a maiden rated 78-84 range in later season. Not convinced she is the type that improves in later season for the stable to get an even higher OR . |
