SUMMARY
G in early am from GGF on Decs. 3mm rain Sun am. 8mm of Watering on Monday. Another course working hard to produce Good going & not GF.

This appears to be the first "7f" 2yo race at the course. Distance is actually 7f & 80yds (7.36f).

=== Pre Race ===

Provoking one of two in race for Dave Evans, both bought for similar amounts at the lesser Tatts 2yo sale. Peak Hill an ok medium one in his breeze but showing movement issues. Those still present in his debut over 6f. Breeze Video for Provoking looking Medium size with a medium build. But lengthy and slightly shorter legs. Ok neck/head which he holds stiff, up and part arched in canter like the prow of a Viking longboat. Bit looking balanced doing it. Looking another type in the wrong sale where blasting 2f is required. Looks like he is overtrying and not fully organised when trying to hustle along in the first 1f. Looks better second 1f galloping along with a lesser cadence and using the range he has balanced. Looks usable as a stayer and prob ok for up to 70. A3 Prince rides Provoking with Drowne on Peak Hill.

Secret Sobriety one of 3 x Breeze buys for trainer Dennis this season. The first two to run - incl SSobriety - ran very poor debuts. The 3rd then won FTO at a long price in a race setting up for a deepish closer. SSobriety just medium sized but bulky in PRev on debut. Ought to be able to get to 70 on power. Ran green with his head and jaw cocked for first half of race on Debut. The other Breeze buy for the trainer improved to a solid rating STO off a Lost Debut and won 3TO. Does this one show the same progression?

Breeze Video for White Ensign starts with 43secs of walking. Medium all round and medium strong. A bit too much length in the body for the legs. Shows a bit faster than average cadence in the breeze but just middling range and length stopping overlap. Moves straight and reliable but set-up pressed a bit off-centre. Yet another example of a 2yo that veers right at the start of the breeze exactly where the breeze timing equipment is. Check how these timing systems work = are they bouncing a laser light off a mirror to make a line that is broken to start the breeze timer. Are the 2yos reacting to the mirror, laser light, both or something else??

=== Post Race ===

New distance at the course. Slower Pace with Peak Hill able to get to the lead and control the race. Turning it into a slow sprint of 2f in the last 2f. Even the first 4 home, clear of the others, looking like they were mostly going up-down in the same place. Peak Hill had been gelded since debut and trainer Evans' said he had behaved badly FTO including rearing over and ending up under the rails in the prelims. PH a a tall one in this group if barrow. But having enough 'pace' to get to the lead from a middle draw and hold off the other plodders in the last 2f. Why doesn't the Market take Evans more seriously? In 2012-14 he has had winners at 50/1, 40/1, 33/1 (twice), 25/1, 22/1, 20/1, 18/1, 16/1 & 12/1. In 2015 this his second 50/1 win supported by successes at 25/1 & 16/1. He must be getting towards a profit backing every 2yo since start 2012. No 'Respect Market Pricing' for you, Dave, why would that be?

The odds-on chances are in terrible 'form' (meaningless phrase eg). Two the previous evening and Time Warp to start the day off. Mind you, the odds-on shots did have a losing run of 7 to start July. ATR showing TW's last run at LNGA before this run and a reminder of just how green and stupid TW was and his 'flying finish' just plugging on into two horses beaten since. This a moderate race and TW's OR76 only just Open Maiden level. Odds-on assumed TW was going to professional here and not roll around as he has before. This the first '7f' race at the track and a short run to a long bend. TW drawn wide and you knew you were in trouble when th jk had to get active early and TW looking as if he had learnt nothing. Ended up 6 Wide to the bend and having to drop in well back. Able to make some progress wide out before 2f out but then rolling about and clueless and not picking up 2f out. The same slow plugging on and the jk losing it a bit and getting busy with the whip. Enough to make anyone think TW cannot be that green and there is some bad attitude involved. Possibly he is a 10f+ horse and lacks pace as well. But, if he were why wouldn't Prescott have put him in the team that have poor 3 rns at 2yo to start their 3yo season off a ludicrously low (for their physical type) OR54?
