GGF by early afternoon. G in early am from GSG on Decs. 33mm Rain Friday. 5.5mm Sunday. CoC quotes = "Lower bend dolled out 5 yards from the 6 furlong marker to the winning post. Increasing race distances to races using that bend by 15 yards". === Post Race === Rail looking to be out much further than 15yds. Given the usual bias towards Prominent racing at the track, with a usable Pace, the final positions of the 1st 4 through Halfway make sense. The two competitive ones finished 1st/2nd and had put a gap between them and the lesser ones close up and throught o Midfield at Halfway. Gandvik a typical Channon smaller one and sub-75, for e.g. Constable Clouds getting a good run through the race in 2R on the rail but fading quickly from around 5th into the last 1f and eased. Non staying or an issue. But, the question then arises over how much Paris Protocol & Real Dominion should be marked up for making ground from poor positions into the HS. Some general bunching up of the field in the CZ but no real creep and PP & RD making ground out wide and staying on late into the Gap between the 1st 2 home and the lesser ones closer up at Halfway. RD doing the closing while looking green, hanging a bit and having trouble finding a clear run plus being leant on by PP at times. Inclined to mark both up and finishing just ahead of horses who they should rate properly higher than. |
