Picture of the positions about 2.5f from the finish below. L to R in Front Rank 5 are IKM, Parkour, TH, Andar & CLad. The Rear trio are Zeebee, BMisery & HFTD.

Apropos of nothing in particular, clearly. Just musing in a week where evidence has been made public which means that watching human athletics is pointless. "What's he feeding them?". A question you often hear, and a good one. While you shouldn't drift into accusations without proof, experience tells us that in most (all?) athletic fields the more you dig beneath "It's all fine" surface things quickly become very dirty.

Hmm, a moderate field in profile and no better in real life. Andar a small and ready ball, lacking scope. A 60s horse in full terms and the type you should be looking for something to beat in a race like this, where he is favourite. Then you look at the others and it is not easy to see what is going to beat a ready enthusiast like Andar. Celestial Lad the one in the field with the size to be 70+ without being a 75+ real Open Maiden type. In good condition and fit enough, what's not to like? Well, firstly he is part yobbo and part slob. Wandering around taking no notice of anything, colty at times and generally not lokign like a ready racehorse. Also his body is too lengthy and he seems stiff behind. Walking short behind. Not convinced that all works properly. Say he is a 2L better horse than Andar in real terms is Andar going to have more than that in hand in professionalism? Probably. Only other one that looks ready and usable on the day is That'll Happen but he's 2-3 point lesser type than Andar, anyway. Not a taking race.

The others are dismissable for the day. Parkour a medium or smaller medium HRE and clearly not fit. Not today. Zeebee some similarities to Andar beyond being grey. But, leggy, up behind, prob growing and less fit and less muscle.

Hymn For The Dudes mostly fit enough but lengthy and a bit narrow. Not a fast 6f type surely. Also, trained by a man who, when intereviewed on ATR, said that he would be happy to let a horse be 4yo or 5yo before getting it ready to run at all. Let them grow up and enjoy themselves. Before being racehorses. He rarely has 2yo runners, let alone winners. B2yoR left that interview with a lower opinion of Berry. Out of touch guy living in his own world away from reality. Probably fits with all that tweeting Led Zeppelin lyrics as if they were deep & meaningful philosophy. Broughtons Misery, err, Mystery, from a not dissimilar style, throwback, Newmarket trainer. Smallest and underpowered.

In Ken's Memory a negative on his picture on MaJo's website and worse looking in real life. In lesser condition, narrow, steps out behind and looking weak and not controlled. He is a 50s one presumably. Then he goes and wins. WHFT??

Trying to recover some poise and perspective you could look at the time for this race and it is slow for fast conditions. Perhaps this was just a poor race and IKM won while being a 50s one? But, the other two 6.1f races were won in slowish looking times and there was a stiff headwind. But, not a race to be looking too much into for future maiden winners. And, IKM needs reviewing to see what was missed, if anything. One thing forgotten, in all the excitement, was she was a filly (the 'Ken' bit sticking).
