=== Post Race ===
In a set-up where the BHA's 2yo handicapper, Mr Tester, over-rates the majority of 2yos how did Harlequin Rock get allowed into the system with three unplaced runs on OR51?? What didn't Tester like about race 213 at SALS.
Pictures of Alabaaly going vaguely berserk and miles clear on the bend, and the field at 2.5f from the finish. In the 2nd picture Alabaaly is still in the lead and still head down trying (too) hard in the headgear. Harlequin Rock is in 2nd and does he look 19lbs smaller/weaker than the topweight Alabaaly? Is HR just 2lbs bigger than Cliodhna? Bathos is in Green & Red and running just ok, and did he stay? Ought to be able to win of fhis starting OR.
Full Text of Stewards' Eunquiry Report = "The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, HARLEQUIN ROCK, ridden by John Egan and trained by Mick Channon, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative who stated that HARLEQUIN ROCK appreciated the Good to Firm, Good in places ground and benefited from the step up in trip from 7 furlongs to 1 mile and 75 yards and having been gelded since his last run. Having heard his evidence they noted his explanation and ordered HARLEQUIN ROCK to be routine tested.". |
