G in early am from GS on Decs. GStick reading from 06:00am. Stiff- SW Wind = 1/2 Tailwind. === Pre Race === Breeze Video for Allfredandnobell looking a bit better than a Remainders Bin £11k, until he starts galloping. Smaller medium perhaps, a bit shallow bodied with some length. A bit light and needs to develop well but not a rabbit. Starts off by diving right whrere the timing equipment is, despite being off the rail (sun reflection off a mirror?). Then looks slow and poorly organised. Slower cadence with a short and scuttly action. Probably turning at least one forleg out in a painful looking way. Being Green not helping the lack of organisation but looking structural issues more than just lack of nous & experience. Breeze Video for More Kudos a rare one from the Goffs London sale on the eve of RASCT, done on KTNA's polytrack. MK raising a low bid given the surroundings and set-up. Video showing he had been drilled to do as fast a 2f as he could and a rider of enough standard to try to make it happen. MK looking a medium to smaller medium & IP one. Ok depth. Has an odd galloping style with the head held up. Gives the visual impression of reaching out with both fore- and hindlegs at the same time while compressing the length of his back. Like he is one of those horses painted in old time pictures before people worked out the stride pattern. A 'rocking horse'. Does a faster cadence for a while but that slows down in stages in the 2nd 1f. === Post Race === Athollblair Boy looking in very good condition and more powerful than LTO. Theory developed of him being a traveller who find little in his final effort looking wrong here. Attending the stiff pace comfortably, as expected, but then staying on well off it if not actually finding a kick. Looked back at his first two runs and on debut green and off the back and a solid bit of travelling to get into the group but perhaps no effort left because of already having to regain lost ground. STO he did run a bit too free in 2R but was left behind by the kick of the leading 3 and did fade late on. ABoy just developed since then and this an easier race with a faster pace so he settled? First 2-3 home in his race LTO plain better? Whatever, a pity he wasn't trained by someone like Duffield so he was easier to 'like'. Tinkler has managed a 0% Strike Rate in 2 of the last 3 seasons and 2.7% in the other (both wins in Selling Nurseries). Congratulate the horse for being good enough to win anyway. Pace set by Myway Queen enough to break By Far (smaller and a poor 'Respect' favourite) & Dreaming Of Rio (presume go to 5f). Raises doubt over quality of race with Myway Queen breaking the race up and hanging on for 4th at 100/1 having show nothing in 2 runs. Not looking a Lurker by size. Enjoyable 'Paddock Review' by Captain Cliche before the race where he gave By Far & Candy Banter as the Paddock Picks. By Far because of a shiny coat (and despite Capt C actually saying he was "on the small side") and Candy B necause she was trained by Kevin Ryan. Thast isn't the poitn of Paddock Review. He's there, and seeing real clues but feeding them through the wrong Model of what is going on. For example, a rabbit with a shny coat is still a rabbit, a 90+ horse with a dull coat will almost always still beat the rabbit because he has 35+ lbs in hand. |
