=== Pre Race ===

Muhadathat the 3rd Breeze Graduate to run in 2014 having been Lot 12 at the Brightwells sales on April 1st. Previous two have won FTO were Lots 1 & 3 at the same sale. Looking a medium one and IP body length and neatly made. Ready type. Seems to have some range in front but not he is wearing pink bandages on the forelegs (affect view?). Held hard by the rider and does a very slow canter around the bend into the HS to the 2f kick-off pint. Goes for it straight away and a faster action but seems too wide in front. Looks better after he settles down a bit and stops 'trying to hard'. Skips along ok with rider more active last 0.5f+ as he hangs right to the rail. Horse still looking in control and listening at the finish. Stalling after the line. Picture on MaJo website makes him look a ready smaller medium on and listening to the rider again (professional FTO?). Bit more body length than though and round behind. Ready, neat, uncomplicated 70+ lacking a bit of scope and vulnerable to more powerful one? Movement make him a touch better?

A couple of quotes from the MPR website, not as gushing at the start as usual, about Satin Chic. They do finish after them by saying they hope SChic will be quick enough to go to Royal Ascot. They talk about that meeting and Group races with most 2yos they sell.

1. "Please don't assume that this horse has anything wrong with it due to it having cost £800. Doncaster Sales are often opportunities for MPR to team up with a trainer when bidding rather than bidding against them and particularly so at this sale where the majority of the horses are being put through the ring by their breeders to get low Auction prices for the Maiden Auction races."

2. "Both Bryan and Nick valued this filly in the £6,000 to £8,000 bracket but by teaming up and due to the fact that she was the 4th last lot in to sell on the final day of the sale allowed us to pick her up for just £800. Bryan obviously was keen to keep a share in her himself, as he can see the huge upside on the investment if she can show any form at all as a 2yo!!!".

==== Post VRev ==

Not a tearaway pace but with Muhadathat & Pippin Street hooking up as a Leading Pair in the rail earlier on then reacted to each other and 'Broke the Race' up in the testing conditions. That pair duelling throughout the race and still alongside each other at the line. Muhadathat a bit taller with PSt a bit better built. Those two well clear into the last 1f but already hanging right and stalling n the way to fading and tiring late on. The pressure they applied enough to get rid of the lesser and.or unready ones but Holy Grail, bit shorter than either of the leading pair but bulky enough and good range to movement behind, able to stay on out of the ruck having been at least 5L back at halfway on the rail. Going past the tired Leading Pair late on for a clear win but having never really been in the race for 4.5f or more. Slower time.

Another example of the 'Minor Chaos' factors in racing changing results. Without fairly detailed knowledge of Power Available versus Pressure Applied this event was a three-sided Coin Toss going into the last 1f. With a bit less fierce a pace and/or faster conditions then one of Muhadathat or Pippin St. would have won. 'BOOOMing' about tipping HG just indicating the person has a long way to go in really thinking about how Racing 'works'.

Just an average maiden for the course or a bit under. Holy Grail a smaller one but seem to show good range behind in movement. Got behind the leaders partly through green, some lack of pace and the Jk (Mulrennan) waiting for Mozimba to hang off the rail to get through the gap. Just low level plugging on needed to be close enough when the leading pair finally collapsed to stay on to win. Upper 60s?

Pippin Street a bit bigger than HG but at least a size smaller than Muhadathat all round. Ridden by ex-stable apprentice Chaloner. Given an aggressive ride to press the leader and making a similar effort to that one until losing almost a length into the last 1f. Seemed to be fitter and able to fight back to 2nd on the line. Quite odd to see the jks on PS & Muhadathat fully active throughout and perhaps not realising they were fighting for second by the line. PS cheaply bought and some sort of 60s on size ground.

Muhadathat the 3rd Breeze Sale graduate to run. The biggest in the field but some niggles and probably just a slightly narrow medium one. Straight front and a bit weaker. Seems to throw his forelegs out a bit in the gallop (showed in the breeze) and can look a bit clumsy at times. For example when getting unblanced on the 1.5f out ramp. Tried hard but going too hard and tired notably in the last 0.5f. 71-74 type.

Satin Chic what you would expect for £800 and small. But moves ok. Got dropped before Halfway partly a bit green and partly outpaced. Doesn't look the size & movement type for a tough test like this. Proabbly 50s but see if she leaks 60s on faster ground at CATT, osimilar.

Midnight Malibu one of the mountain of examples of connections buying yearlings because of past glories. The dam having won a hugely valuable Slaes race for owner & trainer and they sold her on for 70k as a broodmare. Then they go back and but her first yearling. Seemed first string here with Allan riding. Short price on debut can often mean a good one for Easterby and RIPN a good place to look. MM looking smaller type but in good condition and On Toes. Looked a usable ready sprinter. 60s with a bit of zip. Did not seem to handle the ground and never got going. Worth another chance but check the SP STO. If it is 14/1+ then how indicative does that prove.

Mozimba ridden to get involved and some early pace and tried to chase the Leading Pair and a clear 3rd through Halfway. Having to work hard before Halfway and an early fade. Another to check further when she is in a weaker race on faster going.

Tarnend Lass a believable 5f 2yo pedigree and some bulk if on the small to smaller size. Too green and unbalanced to judge here.
