SUMMARY
Stiif to Strong WSW Wind = Slight Tailwind from the Left.

=== Pre Race ===

Strong Challenge sold as a foal and his picture from that sale really just showing that a lot more experience would be needed to judge a foal. If you assumed a Linear Development from December 2013 (when picture taken) then he does look a smaller ('toddler') version of an Exceed And Excel. A bit taller and slightly narrow sprinter of the sire. Not a 'short fat bloke' type Kyllachy, or whatever. But, interesting to know whether he looks like his full brother Crown Prosecutor with the relation probably upping the price. At a very Visual level he does not, being a Chestnut while CP was a darker Bay. No 2yo picture of CP but found a picture of him as an older horse in Hong Kong where he was renamed Bullish Champion (Brand M198). He is retired and won $4,672,000 in HK from 2 wins and 4 places from 15 starts. Highest rating at 113. Picture of CP in HK :-

Baffling stuff in the Market if you just look at Physical Types & Form. Archimedes & Riflescope different PReviewers but had looked similar physical types on debut and both shown similar promise. Both looked around 80 sprinters with Riflescope perhaps needing further. Would not be surprised to see Archimedes a bit shorter price than Riflecope but 10/11f and a drifting 6/1. What the Hell just happened there?? Pictures of the pair from their debuts, Riflescope on the Left. (Try this for yourself = look at the two pictures and understand that the horse's other credentials for the race were roughly the same. How would you explain to someone the likeable lump on the left was 6/1 and the one on the right 10/11f).

Strong Challenge a different Physical type to those two and a slightly taller and narrower size as his Sire and Foal picture might suggest. SC the 7th Godolphin debut of the season and the first for Suroor. With the first 6 Appleby runners failing to do better than 4th a 2nd by SC the best effort yet. But, early 5f debuts were to be avoided overall when the Godolphin trainers wired them tight for debut. In the new, more Educational Intro, regime then that rule-of-thumb should stand. SC looking an ok type but obviously stupid for the day even on the TV shots. Even managed to be Colty AP. Ran green in the race until making ground quite well towards 2f out but then never having enough nous to really challenge Riflescope who had a softish lead on the rail with Kirby riding.

=== Post VRev ===

Just an average pace with Riflescope getting a softish time in the lead. He and SC taking time to put distance into Teversham & KC given the pace.

Riflescope looking as bit smaller now he has tightened up and looking fitter. perhaps int he 75-79 range but leave it at OR80. For example, if he doesn't run now until the Nurseries start what OR will he get? MaJo Open Maiden winner who beat a Godolphin horse while clear of the rest. Late 70s minimum and he will compete fine in early nurseries off the 76-80 range. Typically for a Johnston horse bounced out to lead and control the race and looking professional overall. At least as stong as Archimedes and the question about Why? 6/1 a good one.

Strong Challenge too green and stupid to run a competent race and seems a good sign he still managed to be 2nd despite various bouts of flopping about. Green in the prelims and TP. Two bouts of getting colty (partly floppy) AP then missed the break. Looking green and unbalanced through a lot of the race and the Jk having a hard time finding his rhythm to push to in the last 1f as SC rolled around. Too daft for the day as his picture shows. Different type still to Riflescope & Archimedes. Taller and rangier if less bulky. But strong enough and some scope. Travelled well when competent and should be ok for 80+ if he wises up. Needs a 2nd check when he is nearer to being 'Race Ready'.

Katie Canford another 2yo runner for trainer Bridger in a year when he seems to have a 'lot' (for him) and ready early. The 100/1 on the trainer's poor record with 2yos. Ok as a physical type and as tall as the pair of chunky colts and a bit less solidly built. Another where if she was trained by Hannon you would be sure she would win and might get rated around 70. She would win something like that dreadful affair Fast Gold won at BTON this week with Hannon, for eg. Ran fine in the race and an extra mark for racing off the rail. At least usable 60s and a shame the trainer is mostly a block.

Teversham an ok height in the group if a bit lighter build. Fit and tight and too fizzy in attitude. Sweating AP and wearing cheekpieces and seems too unfocussed at present. Ran BTR in that he got hampered just before the last 1f and lost 2L+ and hard to start again. Usable 60-65 and trainer can find low level events to win with this type.

Interesting input from the PRev wrt Archimedes where the word 'Timid' got used about his attitude. Watch him AP behind the stalls and he looks mentally young and a worrier. Different from the relaxed solid citizen that Riflscope appeared and their ways of running the race reflecting that. Riflescope just doing enough when asked to win looking professional. Archimedes running much too freely sitting outside the leader and fighting the hold to at least Halfway. Did not pick up much at 2f out and soon started Hanging left and the head going down as if timid and worried. The WTRB from the Jk of 'Ran Flat' seems a description of a Sympston rather than answering the 'Why They Ran Badly' question. Lots of other possibilities to pick out of the 'Excuse Bingo' bag. Too Free, timid attitude, worrier, etc. All interacting to produce the run. But, ought to be a 75-79 sprinter if he can grow up mentally.

Olivia Pope at the expensive end of trainer Davis' 2yos. But, check on his previous 2yos show that he hasn't managed to win with any of the recent 10 that cost more than 10,000gns. Mind you, has not had many winners at all. Too green to judge here. Wearing an XNB but too green to get going. Hanging Left throughout and looking green like she was trying to remember which leg to move next. Showing a solid knee action. Small to smaller with some build positove. Check if she might be usable 50s.
