GF in early am as at Decs. 4mm Watering on Thursday. Stalls Far Side of Far Side course. === Pre Race === Race worth £619, 694.77 to the Winner, £253,558.34 to the 2nd, £112,807.13 to the 3rd down to £11k and change for the sixth home. Even Fallon & Dettori might bother to ride out the last 50yds+ for that. In 2014 there were 472 yearlings catalogued for that sale, 414 of which went through the ring to be offerred for sale. Just 336 of those 414 changed ownership at the sale. A ridiculously small pool of horses to be running for a jackpot of £620k 12 months later (the 2015 TO1 sales runs from Oct 6th to the 8th). === Post Race === Taking performance from Gifted Master who got a soft lead on the far rail but found a real forward kick at 2f out to go well clear anyway nad looked a bigger horse and improved. Trainer Palmer interviewed before the race and talked about how he thought GM was really good in early season and was very surprised when Buratino beat him. Siad GM had always been a "prat" and gelding him had "been the making of him" "(as a racehorse). But being gelding also limited the high class races he could run in. GM looking taller, well muscled and in great condition. Add that to racing professionally (as he failed to do S-3TO before gelding) and looking back to the Group sprinter with a taking kick he appeared on debut. Waterloo Bridge got too far back but a laboured effort anyway to get to 2nd late on. Race open to all 2yos that were catalogued in the 2014 Tattersalls Book 1 (TO1) premier yearling sale. Full Race Conditions = £500,000 guaranteed For 2yo which were catalogued in Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales of 2014 and which have been declared by Tattersalls Ltd. as eligible to be entered and run in accordance with the relevant rules Weights colts & geldings 9st 3lb, fillies 8st 12lb Entries 262 pay £ 2250 Confirmed 27 Penalty value 1st £619,694.77 2nd £253,558.34 3rd £112,807.13 4th £56,231.78 5th £28,173.15 6th £11,223.45 |
