SUMMARY
For Reference = the 5 Course here splits into 3 part with a 1f run from the stalls to the start of the Bend at the 4f pole. Then a long sweeping bend of 2f and the 2f out pole is at the point the horses turn into the HS.

Odd race set-up with the 3 horses running in a Line-of-3 from the stalls around the bend until the turn into the HS where Bill's Paid lost touch having been fractious in the stalls and haging right a touch on the bend as he raced widest of the 3 (travelling notably further and having to go faster than the other pair on the bend to stay level with them.

Ample drawn next to the rail and raced the rail for 3f until angling out into the HS to race off the rail. Mostly professional in the race except for running a bit free on the bend. Given an Average pace at most this almost seemed like the pace wasn't fast enough for her. Jk Levey able to sit still for most of the HS as the natural pace Ample was maintaining was enough to see off the hard working Lone Angel. Extra positive point was that Ample finished the race off fully and when niggled into the last 0.5f she found a kick and ran through the line strongly and taking time to be pulled up on the CH. Seemed to show some extra range in front when asked (good movement upping the ability?).

Ample not standing out for size in the prelims but at least a 1/2 to 1 size bigger frame than LA and notably stronger. On that he might seems OR79s but the way she went through the race and finished, allied to a good natural pace, suggested he was better than that. Ought to be OR80s and will presumably try Conds/Listed races and probably competitive in those races with the right set-up through to mid-season. Ample only cost £8k and the 7th foal of a dam who has not bred a winner before. By the little used sire Arakan whom the Hannons have had great success with - Dick Turpin, Trumpet Major & Toormore. The Hannons seem to have an uncanny knack of turning up with the best progeny of sires/dams and avoiding most of the dross.

Lone Angel a cheap purchase given the pedigree and probably because she was a small yearling. Smallest in this field but plus marks for being neatly made and a professional and positive attitude. Able to travel well around the bend in lane 1 outside Ample and then hang onto that filly for a period is the HS before being overpowered. Seems a straightforward type with ok natural pace but vulnerable to stronger types. But, ought to compete ok in early season Auction races given her price. Lack scope and usable 60s early to mid?

Bill's Paid a typical short one that Turner 'fattens up' in his livestock mode. Up behind and a bit too much length. Fractious in the stalls and held by two handlers but got away with the other pair. But, jk While (A5) typically unbalanced and finding going around a bend and having to think about positioning the horse too much. Which meant BP ran Lane 2 around the long bend while having to try and balance the 'wobbly' aboard. Turner made a WTRB saying the horse had a breathing problem and watching the Video you can see why he might have thought that. Around Halfway the horse lost ground from being 2 Wide in a Lo3 to lose contact with the other pair quite quickly with the head a bit up but also moving short in front. Horse did not repond in the HS having dropped to the rail. Visually looked like the horse was feeling 'something'. As short as LA but chunkier but not looking anatural mover before the problems here. Another perhaps usable lower-mid OR50s if BP can put a race together, But, another that Turner would normally target at sellers/claimers and not many of those races left. Note that BP made his debut in a French claimer on March 19th over 4.5f and a well beaten 7th of 9. A race which had produced no winners since but was worth £9.5k to the winner.
