SUMMARY
HS rain fully in. Inside Line.

=== Post Race ===

A weak looking race in Profile. Presmably the going meaning a smaller field than usual and missing a range of more interesting trainers who might have bought a usable filly to this race. Hannon, Beckett, etc. At Post (AP) they looked a reluctant and awkward bunch as well. On offer to the stalls Ocean Temptress reared up, dropped the jk then canter off to the far end of the closed HS extension. Stood quietly enough there and caught and walked back. Then OT taking time to load with no jk and then unsettled as the jk gingerly edged aboard. 2 other fillies had to be taken out due to the delay with To Have A Dream causing trouble loading having been fine 1st go. Others a mix of unhelpful overall.

Fastnet Spin put in last and having to be ganged up on to be encouraged in. FS then giving a mulish performance in the race having to be pushed along and jk Gannon using the whip before 1f run and continuing it to use through the race. FS looking to have no chance of winning until starting to run on in the last 1f+. Won a little comfortably in the end and probably helped by racing a bit off the pace.

Fastnet Spin review

Well the only one with any real substance was Ocean Temptress, the rest were all small with Fastnet Spin, To Have A Dream and Zig Zag Girl almost identical sizes. The other two were perhaps a bit bigger but with no appeal. As David Evans said afterwards "she wants 7 furlongs….I think it was a weak race".

Fastnet Spin – somewhere between tiny and small but neatly made and 95- 97% fit. An electric mouse as hoped. Looked to struggle with the ground early on or a combination of greenness and ground caught her out. Pushed along by Gannon for most of the race then won going away. Looked to have a higher knee action than her two rivals for places. 65

Zig Zag Girl – same size as FS, green and calling in the pre-parade as well as skittish. 65

Ocean Temptress - a bit of a re-incarnation of the same stable first runner last year, Lady Nayef. Medium size in a light frame, taller and longer than her rivals but only about 85% fit. I rated Lady Nayef 71 on debut last year and she finally won 10to off 72 although that was the highest she had been at the time. If Mr Ryan does not find a race for this one soon it may be the same story. In fairness everything went wrong she had to be re-shoed in the pre-parade and then got loose on loading. She had been calm during the prelims. I got the impression that connections thought she would win and perhaps they were unlucky, Brock on board was certainly not sparing the rod given it was her fto. 71

Crystal Secret – small but a bit bigger and heavier built than FS. Not fit 58

She’s Rosanna – Similar size and build to Crystal Secret. Not fit 58

To Have A Dream – Looked a bit more of a racehorse than the two in front of her. Presumably couldn’t cope with the ground. 60
