=== Pre Race ===

Palmer blog = "I have entered Aventinus and Liberatum in the novice at York on Saturday, and I am hoping the race will divide, so I can run both. Both are nice colts who will benefit for the run. This is actually the race that Galileo Gold was beaten in on his debut last season, and my colts have done plenty of work and who should give their owners plenty of enjoyment this season and make up into nice 3yos. Galileo Gold is by Paco Boy, as is Liberatum, and he is the likelier of the two to run if the race doesn't divide. ".

Fahey in his SL piece = "I can't really split Megan Lily and Party Tiger on their homework and we're obviously hoping for the best in the Median Auction Novice Stakes. I'm quite confident they'll both win races as they're showing up well, but it's first time out for both of them and we'll have to see whether they're good enough to win here as it's hard to know exactly what you're up against at this stage. Either way I'm very much in favour of these types of races in place of the traditional maidens as it provides more opportunities for the two-year-olds. Carrying 6lb for winning might prove too much for a lot of young horses but that doesn't apply here and nine of the 10 are newcomers anyway.".

=== Post Race ===

Pace too strong. Masham Star & Megan Lily getting hooked up as a leading pair early and both going too freely. Pair 5L+ clear of the rest at Halfway with a number of those behind already being hustled along.

Megan Lily a sensible buy at €40k as a yearling even if she had limited ability. Her siblings meaning she would have ok prospects of being worth more than that as a broodmare prospect. The fact she cost 'only' that amount a hint she might be a small(er) one although an unproven sire also perhaps a factor. Looking a smaller one here and smaller than Masham Star as the pair pulled clear. But with a fast action and short 'nod'. Able to 'break' MStar and keep going (unusually) well given the pace. Out of line with her size as well. Another smaller, fast filly bought by Bradley to go with Vona. This one looking a bit Eyeballs Out. You would presume she is fast enough for 5f and 80+ but what's going on with the size?

Broken Stones an expensive Breeze buy and in that Breeze looking a longer bodied strider. Not pure speed but perhaps more of a reaching galloper. Straight mover and balanced and looking ok for 85+. Not helped by Frank on board but BS perhaps 9.5L back at halfway and already being puched along. The only one to come out of the pack and did it pretty well and going away at the finish. But, without looking a fast 6f type and presume he will go up to 7f at some point soonish.

Picture of Finish below with Broken Stones on the left and electric bunny Megan Lily on the right. In behind in Green & Maroon is Masham Star (some combination of not staying and broken by the pace having mixed it with the battery advert miles clear at halfway).
