- Had worked as a salaried employee of Sheikh Maktoum Al Maktoum at his Gainsborough stables in Newmarket for 12 year through to 2006 (had been there for 3 years previously as assistant to Alex Scott who was murdered in 1994). Sheikh Maktoum's death in early 2006 led to the decision to combine his horses under the Darley group of Sheikh Mohammed from 1st January 2007. He therefore took the decision to become a public trainer from that date and lease the Gainsborough to continue as his training base. May still continue to train some Maktoum family horses but now has greater opportunity, and responsibility, to find other owners.
- Rabbah bloodstock announced in early November 2011 that Dunlop would no longer be training for them. Rabbah is an umbrella name for a group of Dubai based associates of the Maktoums. These included Saif Ali, Sultan Ali and Saeed Manana. Racing manager Bruce Raymond said that the owners wanted a 'fresh training routine' and 'change of scenery' and hoped this would benefit their horses.
