- Successful trainer with 2yos through the 1990s before moving to train in Hong Kong. That venture proved financially successful although much less so in terms of training winners. Returned to train in Britain in 2004 and able to purchase his own Newmarket yard helped by the Hong Kong income.
- Had a poor season in 2008 and seemed to let dealing with the issues get to him and lost a number of horses for major owners including Cheveley Park Stud. The root of the problem seemed to be communication problems between the trainer and his owners and he said in interview that he had now employed a person to handle that side of the business. 2009 another poor one by his standards and number of runners down to a low of 15 and only 3 individual winners.
