Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 4th: Doncaster
6f Auction
  • Made a solid price at the Tattersalls breeze up sales but well below the price as a foal in Ireland.
  • First runner for the first season sire.
  • Sire won over 6f in two races at 2yo in August and September. Won at Group 1 over 8f at 3yo. B2yoR saw only 5 of his yearlings at the sales which were a moderate group.
  • Dam was an expensive sales purchase but ran only once when unplaced at 2yo over 8f on September 8th. She has produced a Listed 3yo winner in the US.
  • Major trainer does not target strong debuts and only the very best win FTO. He has had a slightly slow start to 2005 with only one winner (STO) to date. He has lacked the better quality earlier runners of the last three seasons.
  • In 2003-4 he introduced 23 2yos in June with 3 FTO wins and a number of above average 2yos were beaten and the debut winners were superior. They were a range of types from Group winners down to moderate maidens.
  • Trainer has used this race for moderate types in the last two seasons (Hearthstead Dream & Saint Clements). His runner in the previous 6f Auction at the course in 2005 was also topweight and also looked moderate in finishing unplaced.  Profile [57]
  • June 11th: Doncaster
    6f Maiden
  • 12/1 at Doncaster and drawn in the middle of a big field in a race with a good pace. A good break and a professional performance. Led in the middle after a furlong although a length down on 3 runners towards the rail. 4 wide off the rail in a line of 5 at halfway - these five included the winner and third (him) and three runners who faded to various degrees. Went on with Saville Road (another expensive 2yo purchase and backed)  inside the last 2f. Duelled with him until a slight fade in the final furlong.  Estimate [71]
  • A very good debut by trainer standards and interesting to note he had been through a breeze up preparation elsewhere. Did this help assist him in being more professional? A normal debut of this type would indidate a useful (85+) 2yo. Trainer has a similar record with STO runs off short breaks as off any other break. Set's a strong standard.  Estimate [78]
