Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 28th: Doncaster
6f Maiden
  • Retained for a solid price at the select session of the Tattersalls Part 1 sales. Not particularly high given the position as Lot 28 in a session where 6 figure prices were commomplace and a number made 7 figures. Not a high price in the context of the sire whose first yearlings sold well.
  • First season sire has a very good but quite stout pedigree. He ran only once at 2yo winning an 8f maiden on October 28th. He showed his best form over 10-12f at 3yo.
  • B2yoR reviewed 25 of his yearlings and they were a varied group but with a high proportion of good quality. They came in a wide variety of sizes but most of the better types were notably well built.
  • He had his first 2yo runner yesterday who was a staying on 2nd in a moderate 6f AW race.
  • Dam was a 6-8f winner in France and Listed placed. She has produced two placed 2yos that have shown 65-70 rated form, including one that sold for a higher price.
  • Good trainer that supports 2yo racing. His debut runners tend to be competent and the FTO wins come along with better runners who can win on better ability. However, he tends to choose his earliest debut runners well and most are competitive to place and win if they are useful+.
  • He has had four earlier debut runs in 2005 three of which were uncompetitive on debut. A free running type won a moderate to average race FTO.
  • The runners in this race are the 2nd & 3rd 2yos to run since those four early debut runners. Three of those four have won (two STO after midfield debuts) and the other disappointed as strong favourite. The latest debut was second in a moderate Leicester maiden after drifting in the market.
  • Trainer runs two in a race he usually runs an above average 2yo in. This one appears to be the second string.
  • In summary unlikely to be a better type that can compete well on debut given the 'second string' status. Trainer usually runs moderate to average types as back-ups although worth noting that Maids Causeway was the second string to Whazzat in a Newbury maiden in 2004.  Profile [56]
  • June 14th: York
    7f Listed
  • 40/1 at Doncaster and ridden by a 7lb apprentice suggesting not much was expected. Tracked the pace in 5th and 1.5L off the leader at halfway. made an effort through to 3rd after 2f out and kept on resonably well without being able to close on the first two.  Estimate [60]
  • The 2nd and 5th from the Doncaster have won moderate to average races since and the 10th has placed 2nd on the all weather. Trainer regular has runners for owner breeders int he race with mixed results although a winner in 2004. Profile [74]
