May 13th: Hamilton
6f Maiden |
Made a good price at the Tattersalls part 1 sales.
Good sire has just an average record with 2yos and they tend to be better
for development from mid-season. The wins usually start from late June
onwards and over 7f+. He has not had a 6f winner in the last two seasons.
This is his first runner of the season.
The dam won at 2yo to 5yo and was a Grade 3 winner over middle distances
at an older age. Her previous foal was a very poor athlete.
Major trainer does not target strong debuts and only the very best win
FTO. He has had a slightly slow start to 2005 with only one winner (STO)
to date. He has lacked the better quality earlier runners in the last three
seasons.
The stable is in the period when they are ranking their longer distance
2yos. The stable chose to run Desert Realm in the important York maiden
yesterday and he opened favourite but ran too freely and a poor result.
In the three weeks following this date in 2004 he introduced a variety
of 2yos including the better quality Hearthstead Wings & Leo's Lucky
Star who both won on debut.
In summary a likeable pedigree but probably better for 7f+. The 6f debut
suggests he probably at least useful and will develop further. However,
he will need to be better than useful to win in a tough edition of the
race. Profile [67]
