Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 5th: Declared for
Folkestone 5f Maiden
  • Bred by the trainer and appears not to have gone to the sales. Trainer has trained both previous foals from the dam.
  • Sire was not precocious and only ran at 7-8f at 2yo. He has had only four poor 2yo runners in the UK in the period 2002-4 including this runner's full brother. These 2yos have tended to make later season debuts.
  • Dam was unraced and has produced one winner (to Bishop Of Cashel) that needed 9.4f in December and the AW to win as a 2yo. She has produce a full brother to this runner who made one run over 7f at 2yo.
  • Trainer has few 2yos and has varied his approach with them in 2003-4 possibly because of stable problem. This is an early debut run.
  • Trainer does not target strong debut runs although moderate runners can be close to their final rating on debut. Better types tend to develop by 14lbs+ from debut.
  • In summary a non 5f pedigree and a notably early debut both for the trainer and for the mare's and sire's 2yo runners. Not likely to be close to best on debut and may not be up to the class of this race even when fully developed as 2yo. Why debut so early? Profile [46]
  • April 5th: Folkestone
    Post Race
  • Steady at 16/1 on debut. Got well behind behind a solid pace set by Magidene. Looked to put in a strong finish but probably made to look better by Magidene fading and the other two leaders stalled.
  • Plugging on late in a slowish race but ran above expectations.  Estimate [56]
  • April 11th:  Declared
    Lingfield 5f Maiden
  • One of four runners in the race whose form is tied together by two maiden races run in slowish & slow times on turf at Folkestone. This is a different test.
  • Showed more on debut than expected but only got into the race very late as the leaders stalled or faded. This race is likely to be a different test and will need to be show more pace and professionalism to be competitive.
  • The positives are that the trainer does not target strong debuts so we can expect improvement and it is probably a good sign he is running this early. Likely to be keeping on in the straight but ought to be something speedier he cannot catch. Profile [63]
  • May 11th: Newcastle
    6f Maiden
  • The form of his debut third looks poor in retrosepct and none of the runners from that race have competed well since. He tracked the pace by two lengths early at Lingfield (100/30f) but was soon outpaced and just plugged on for a moderate 4th and proably rating below the debut.
  • Steps up to 6f at a very early stage and on a stiffer track and a complete change from the last run. Track for improvement. Profile [58]
