Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 7th: Beverley
5f Maiden
  • Made a middling price at the Doncaster St Leger sales. [Where was trainer R Millman when she was sold, by one of his favourite sires and he has trained two of the siblings including the best quality runner.]
  • Rated 68 at the sales and an average chance of being a strongly competitive 2yo at his level. Small, heavy bodied and deep/wide in front. Lack athleticism.
  • By underused sire with solid record with producing sprint 2yos from limited opportunities, occasional with good quality. Fine for producing early 5f 2yos that can win on debut.
  • The sire has made a good start to 2005 with two debut wins from two runners both for trainer B. R. Millman. These winners are two of the best 2yos seen so far in 2005. His other runner has also won at a low level.
  • Dam was a superior 5f 2yo who showed only useful form later. He previous foals include one very good sprint 2yo among three poor to moderate types.
  • Trainer does not target strong debuts and FTO wins are rare. He has had one win and two places from 15 debuts in 2005. The debut win was at 20/1 in a race where the odds-on favourite 'failed'.
  • Trainer runs two in this race and neither is well drawn. This one maybe the first string on jockeys.
  • In summary may make a competitive 2yo rating around 70. Trainer's debuts tend not to be competitive and this one is poorly drawn. However, may do a little better than his average debut.  Profile [50 + 5 = 55]
  • May 17th: Redcar
    6f Maiden Fillies'
  • Poor draw at Beverley and 33/1 (trainer's other runner finished second at 40/1 from a slightly better draw and running wider on the course. The race was run in a rainstorm on deadening ground. The race had too strong a pace for the quality and the conditions and allowed placers to come from well off the pace. She broke ok and was around 2L off the lead after 1F but was then notably outpaced with the solid pace and was more than 6L off the leaders at halfway. Just plugged on from there. Estimate [24]
  • A debut lacking in any obvious promise and steps up to 6f after getting outpaced FTO. Trainer's 2yos usually show what ability they have within their first two runs. So we should find out if she has the ability she looked to have at the sales here.  Profile [60]
