Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 4th: Haydock
5f Maiden
  • Made a solid price at the Tattersalls breeze up sales and similar level to the yearling level at the US sale.
  • Third season sire made a good start in 2003 with his British raced 2yos. They were not a precocious group and wins came from June onwards and a good record at 6f. 2004 was a poor follow-up with no British winner from 8 runners
  • Dam unraced and a half sister to mainly minor US winners.
  • He has had two poor debuts so far in 2005.
  • Medium sized stable runs around 10, sales bought, 2yos each year. Debut runs tend to be around 14lbs below final rating. However he does get occasional debut wins with better types in weaker northern races.
  • FTO SP shows no relation to debut performance nor overall ability. H has had one midfield debut so far in 2005.
  • In summary the sire's British raced 2yos have been better for 6f and/or development through the season. Trainer does not target strong debuts but can get them with better types (usually meaning capable of rating 80+ in the season). Profile [58]
  • June 18th: York
    5f Listed
  • 13/2 at Haydock and short for a trainer debut but a race lacking a runner with strong previous form. Looked the biggest in the field and slightly leggy, Not particularly fit and with the physical scope and size to improve. Mature in front and showed a reaching action in front. Ran better than his finishing position suggests. Race turned into a time trial with King Orchisios (also in this race) setting a good pace and gradually stretching the other runners until they cracked. Within 2L of the lead at halfway and travelling ok. Slightly outpaced by the front three and fourth with a furlong to go but then faded to 6th.  Estimate [42]
  • A moderate debut but showing some promise and with scope to develop. Did not look a real speed 5f type and perhaps better for 6f and development. Trainer has run a 25/1 & 100/1 chance in the race in the last 3 years. Would need to improve remarkably to compete here but not one to give up on yet. Watch for 6f promise and lasting longer close to the pace.  Profile [62 + 6 = 68]
