Barrister, partner in Mayfair firm "Reid Minty". Trains as a hobby and
sideline and quoted as saying he would retire after training his 100th
winner (which he did not do). Notable for claiming horses, targeting Lingfield
AW, having all runners in blue bandages and unfortunate names.
-
Most runners for the stable are owned by trainer. The majority of 2yo runners
have been to the sales and cost between 2k to 18k gns. However, at least
half of these have been bred by the trainer and retained at the sales (for
example the produce of the mares Gentle Irony and Sure Care). In 2004 his
best 2yo runner had been bought for 36k gns.
-
He does not target FTO wins and debut runs are normally educational and
at Lingfield. Runners tend to be 15lbs or more below their final rating
on debut and to develop with racing and win after 3TO.
-
In 2004 he had an unusual FTO win at Lingfield AW in the first race of
the year. However that runner (Bunditten) was precocious and only needed
to run to a rating in the 60s to win FTO and rated 85+ later in the season.
She was also unusual in that she was 9/2 on debut when most runners are
20/1+ in line with his 'development with racing' approach.
-
In the period 2002-4 he has run four 2yos claimed from other stables, only
one of these has won and none has shown improved form.
