July 4th: Windsor
6f Maiden |
Probably did not go to the sales.
Second season sire made acceptable start in 2004 with 2yos but better record
for 6f+. He has had two 5f winners so far in 2005.
Dam has moderate pedigree and showed very poor form over 6-8f.
Trainer has never targeted 2yo racing and with recent decline in stable
numbers he gets very few competitive 2yos. The stable reached a low point
in 2004 with only two 2yos. The 2yos tend to be bought at sales for between
3k to 26k gns.
In interview he has talked about racehorses needing to develop mentally
and physically into 'racehorses' and that this can't be complete at 2yo.
His performance with 2yos fits with this strategy of seeing it as part
of development. He lacks a strong plan with the 2yos that run and they
tend to have inconsistent 2yo performances (for example apparent improvement
with long SP places are not followed up in the next run).
The FTO runs tend to be at long SPs and relatively poor.
In summary nothing to suggest a competitive debut although well drawn in
14 of 16. Profile [28]
