March 31st : Declared
5f Conditions - Brocklesby
at Doncaster |
Acceptable price for TO2 sales.
By third season sire who has a very good pedigree (including for producing
2yos) but has had limited opportunities at stud. Has a good record of producing
competitive 2yos with the few runners he has had in 2003-4 although mostly
at lower level. Can get early 5f runners.
Dam unraced but had a good 'sprint 2yo' pedigree.
Younger trainer has varied his approach with 2yos 2002-4 and seemed to
have settled for later season debuts and targeting STO runs for wins (unless
useful+ Like Johnny Jumpup in 2004).
This is a very early season debut for him and the results with earliest
debuts have been mixed, often has break with no runners after the first
run.
This is his second runner in 2005 and the first won at 14/1 in a weak Warwick
maiden fillies' earlier in the week. Has he changed his approach to 2yos
again and gone back to early and ready debuts like 2002?
In summary a good sales price for his sire and support from the dam side
as a competitive 2yo. Trainer giving hints that he may have changed his
2yo policy in 2005 and capable of getting runners very competent on debut.
A difficult runner to place given the information but would be no surprise
to see him in the first five or six. Profile [63]

March 31st: Doncaster
Post Race |
Was an unusual early debut for his trainer who has changed his approach
with 2yos again in 2005 (back to his 2002 model).
Attracted some mild each-way support from 20/1 to 14/1. Ran an acceptable
race in 6th with some progress after halfway before stalling in the last
furlong.
Ran slightly below expectations but has ok prospects to rate just over
70+ on this run. Estimate [55]

April 11th: Declared
Lingfield 5f Maiden |
Another test of the strength of the Brocklesby race form. Traditionally
those runners in 2nd to 7th(ish) win their next run attesting to the better
quality of the race and their readiness. Only William John (8th) has run
so far and was disappointing in a very slow race on soft going.
Trainer has not had a STO runner yet in 2005 and these runs can be variable.
Switches to AW for this run. Profile [62]

April 30th: Goodwood
5f Maiden |
Improved to Estimate [63] at Lingfield but beaten by a wayward Grimes
Faith who has had his limitations demonstrated since. Finished just in
front of the filly Tryandstopme who was on debut and re-opposes here. She
has looked short of pace in another race at Lingfield since that debut.
In summary just moderate form so far and needs to develop to reach a 70
rating. Has shown just average pace and not competitive with average types
in the finish of his two races so far. Profile [65]
