May 15th: Ripon
6f Maiden |
Made a high price at the Deauville August sales.
Good sire has a variable record with 2yos and just about average overall.
As a group they tend to be better for development later in the season.
He gets wins at all distances.
The dam was a Group 1 winner over 14f in France and a daughter of an Oaks
runner-up.
Major trainer does not target strong debuts and only the very best win
FTO. He has had a slightly slow start to 2005 with only one winner (STO)
to date. He has lacked the better quality earlier runners of the last three
seasons.
The stable is in the period when they are ranking their longer distance
2yos. The stable chose to run Desert Realm in the important York maiden
yesterday and he opened favourite but ran too freely and a poor result.
In the three weeks following this date in 2004 he introduced a variety
of 2yos including the better quality Hearthstead Wings (in this race) &
Leo's Lucky Star who both won on debut. [Worth noting that the trainer
is in the Far East with Attraction at present and his wife is in charge
of the stable].
The trainer has run superior 2yos on debut in the last two editions of
the race.
In summary a pedigree which says he ought to be a 7f+ development type.
The trainer has run similar types in the last two years and both later
ran in Group races over 7f+. In line with his trainer's methods he would
need to be superior to win here over 6f on debut. Profile [74]
