April 7th: Declared for
Leicester 5f Maiden |
Sold for acceptable price at Doncaster October sales.
Second season sire made a good start with his 2yos in 2004 getting 5 individual
winners from only 9 runners. These were not high quality but a good record
nonetheless.
Sire got precocious runners and early 5f winners.
Dam was unraced and has produce winners that have tended to need 7f+ and
be limited to 60s quality, including those that sole better than this one.
Trainer has debut runners, especially moderate types in early season, fit
and close to their best ratings on debut. Because of this they can sometimes
place at longer SPs but then tend not to show any progress.
This is the trainer's second runner of the season with the first finishing
last yesterday at 50/1. The trainer had a similar type finish fourth in
this race in 2002.
In summary the pedigree of a 60s rated sprint 2yo at best although may
need 7f. The trainer normally has his runners fit and ready on debut although
his first runner yesterday in 2005 showed little (possibly a poor type).
Could scrape into first three or four if competent and a 60s type. Profile

April 7th: Leicester
Post Race |
Not as fit as expected and trainer is possibly slightly changing his approach.
Has ok size and build in the group but too compact in set-up.
Steady at 11/1 & ran a typical race as volunteer third in a slow race.
Can improve fitness but not one to follow and 60s rater probably. Estimate

Moderate third in a slow race here on wet ground on debut. Not as fit as
expected there but looked limited to low 60s rating at best. Profile

Post Race |
Still didn't look as fit as expected on STO. 16/1 and never got into the
race after a slightly slow pick-up. Plugged on into midfield late. Estimate
