June 10th: Sandown
7f Maiden |
Made a high price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 67 with a slightly below average chance
of being a 2yo winner. Just above average size and build but notably lengthy
and not that athletic. A 'frame' of a horse at the sales and needed to
develop well to improve his movement.
Good sire has variable record with 2yos and gets winners at all distances.
Can get 5f winners although better record at 6f+ and had his first winner
of 2005 at 6f last week.
Dam won over 7f at 2yo.
Veteran trainer targets 2yo racing and has a good record. Notable for having
a plan for most 2yos and being flexible enough to use whatever approach
is needed to give best chance of a win.
Trainer does not target FTO wins although they are usually competent so
the better runners can place or occasionally win on debut. Runners often
10lbs or more below best on debut.
He has had three previous runners in 2005 and none have been competitive
to win FTO. All have placed STO and one has won on 3TO.
In summary likely to be a development run on trainer's methods and would
need to be better than useful to win FTO. Interesting to see how well he
has developed physically into his frame. Estimate [60]
