Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
March 29th: Entered for
Warwick 5f
Maiden Fillies' (E)
  • Cheap price for Tattersalls (Ir) sale.
  • Third season sire has ok record with getting competitive minor 2yos and the occasional one useful+ from limited opportunities. Can get 5f winners but wins usual start from May onwards.
  • Dam placed over sprint distances in Ireland. Has a poor stud record with only one minor winner from 4 foals.
  • Younger trainer has varied his approach with 2yos 2002-4 and seemed to have settled for later season debuts and targeting STO runs for wins (unless useful+ Like Johnny Jumpup in 2004).
  • This is a very early season debut for him and the results with earliest debuts have been mixed, often has break with no runners after the first run.
  • In summary an acceptable pedigree in terms of the race. The sire and trainer suggest a runner better from May onwards. The early debut raises question over whether this one has shown him natural ability at home or is so poor he needs to get her out early to have any chance of being competitive. Profile [44]
  • March 29th :
    Warwick Post Race
  • The first runner of the season for a trainer who has varied his approach to 2yos 2002-4 and this was a notably early debut. The early run raised the question of why he was running this one in March, i.e. shown natural ability at home or so poor it needs to run early.
  • The debut win, travelling comfortably far enough off the too strong pace to keep on under a 5lb apprentice might suggest 'natural ability'.
  • However there are mixed messages because she was 16/1 and her trainer had also entered her for the AW seller at Wolverhampton in 5 days time.
  • This doesn't suggest he thought a great deal of her and he was probably slightly surprised by how 'little' was needed to win this race. In summary, in a slow and ragged race, she probably only had to perform to around profile to win. Estimate [50]
  • April 15th: Thirsk
    5f Fillies' Novice
  • The form of her debut win has thrown up mixed messages although even the positive later runs from those in the race have only been at 55-62 level.
  • Penalised 2lb for debut win and expect around 8lb improvement.  Profile [62 -2 = 60]
  • June 10th: Chepstow
    6f Novice
  • 11/4 at Thirsk on soft in a race with a good pace. 3L off the lead at halfway and faded notably in the last 2f.  Estimate [32]
  •  Returns after a 2 month break and steps up to 6f. Form and profile moderate.  Profile [52 + 10 = 62]
