April 23rd: Haydock
5f Maiden Fillies' |
Made low to middling price at Goffs sales.
By second season sire that made a very good impression in 2004 with a good
set of sprint 2yos, including early 5f winners. He has had a 5f winner
already in 2005.
Older dam was a 3yo winner and has a patchy stud record but has produced
four winners abroad. Only one winner since her 1997 foal.
Trainer targets 2yo racing. His very earliest debuts tend to include around
4 winners (some useful) out of 5. A longer SP (16/1+) would be a negative.
He does not target FTO wins and most debuts are well below final rating.
He has had five debut runs in 2005 which fit this pattern.
Trainer runs two in this race and both are on debut. This one might be
the first string on jockeys. Profile [54]

Post Race |
(T Durcan) opened 20/1 and finished 25/1 (the stable's other runner (G
Gibbons) - who won - was steady at 20/1). Lost any chance of getting into
a race with a solid pace at the start. Broke slightly slow and then went
left behind the other runners and lost 3 lengths or more. Was always off
the back of the main group after that and 5 lengths+ off the pace at halfway.

Ran a poor debut at Haydock although a minor excuse with missing the break
but showed little afterwards. Bad draw in 16 of 16 here. Profile

40/1 after starting at 33/1 and touching 50/1. Drawn 16 of 16 and made
that even worse by losing 2 lengths with a slow break and losing further
ground by not picking up properly. Both problems she had shown FTO. Always
adrift off the back of a race with a too strong pace after that. Estimate

Steps up to 6f after two poor runs over 5f in contrasting conditions. Cannot
write her off completely yet because she had no chance to show her best
at Chester (trainer's runners usually show a good indication of their ability
in their first two runs). Assess here. Profile [54]
