An interesting set of 3 on the day who all figure high up in the Race Profile
rankings.
-
Minotaurius (Beverley, KR Burke 5-6f). Trainer into period
when he should get his debut winners with his better sprint 2yos. He runs
two in this race with and this appears to be the first string on jockeys
ahead of STO Aahaygirl. This is clearly a tough assignment against a group
of precocious and experienced fillies. However, most of those with previous
runs are of limited class and a better type can win by just being plain
better. The fillies with experience are almost certain to set a strong
pace and allow a newcomer to get into the race in the last furlong, as
a closer, if they are good enough.
-
Solo Attempt (Great Leighs, Marco Botti, All). Trainer has shown
a thoroughness in preparation in his first two seasons (which is a bit
too strait-laced if anything). The earlier debuts have included the best
filly each year and both have won on debut. In general he's a 'Show or
Nothing' trainer as explained with James Given yesterday (whose Bitza Baileys
could be discounted on Paddock Review as too small and limited at Leicester
yesterday). This is his first runner and slightly earlier than his 2006-7
kick-offs which perhaps suggest a ready type (which can be good or bad
depending how big she is). Either way, she ought to be competent and win
or place if she's ok at some level and if she doesn't can probably be ignored
for the future.
-
Coconut Shy (Yarmouth 2:40, MG Quinlan, March To May). Trainer
has managed one debut winner with the only runner who has hinted at any
ability so far. This one starts in a weak seller and is owned by the trainer's
family. First debut runner after a break from the early starter and should
compete strongly.
