2Field race stands' rail. Average time for the conditions. Field lacking depth with newcomers not that ready. Di Stefano 3TO & fit & good condition. Possible slightly over-wound but race settled enough. Cross from wide draw to be second 2 odd rail at halfway. Take lead as Crushing fade & go clear comfortably. Head up & sweating final furlong. Not need to show improved form to win. Crushing very strongly built & with some length & look ok sprinter. But, flabby & slight belly for FTO. Surprise to see support in that context but trainer debuts regularly supported in recent seasons with limited returns. Set solid pace on rail but fading soon after 2f out. Ought to improve well for better fitness. Placed horses not look strong profiles. Cherry Bee drift in Market but plug on well enough last 1f. Not 5f on this. Jack Luey seem to show promise on debut when he made ground in centre track at Carlisle. This strip of track seemed an advantage & left behind by pace set on this faster course before halfway. Watch Chain of some interest. Trainer has just started running his first batch of 2yos. In recent seasons he has targetted 3yo handicap careers & not bought 2yo types. Tends to buy bigger physical types if he can afford them. Wins before July rare now & no wins at less than 7f since 2005. FTOs usually uncompetitive & runners improve notably STO if not just 3yo development runs. Quiet progress 8th to 5th late & 6f a minimum on pedigree. |
