SUMMARY

2Fascinating race to watch. Classic Stalk&Pounce shape. Leading pair set enough pace to see them fade late and put pressure on the duffer ones. Can split 10 runners into 5 pairs by where they were at halfway to understand the dynamics. Handicap marks brought together similar enough horses to tie the race together.
1&2 through halfway hang on to inside the last 1F with AG making ground inside 2F but fading more. LB run better in FT Blinkers having run well in pace war 2 runs back but packed it in LTO.
3&4 through Hf in best place to jump to leading positions late as pacemakers fold. CGirl ran well over 6f here LTO & stalled late. Jump to lead here and win well. One of 3 permanent tail flashers to have run in 2009, all fillies, and all have won (Miss Whippy today & Art Jewel). Papageno a free runner & not stay 5f before. Better for settling here & jump to 2nd but stalling late on.
5&6 through Hf lack pace to be further forward but dragged along close enough to pace to only make brief efforts in straight before stalling back.
7&8 incl M'maid who made pointless effort wide on Bend and drop back. Boga out of form for new stable & no response in straight.
9&10 incl PC down to 5f & expensive 4TO for major owner & son of wily trainer. Got behind early & pace not strong enough to allow deep closers to get up to S&Ps. Presumably can do better. EP held up & trainer in notably better form now. Solid effort later in race, head up runner but seems mostly willing.
