2Few of field handled surface well & won by KATG with proven course form. He set stiff pace & 1 clear by halfway & never challenged although stalled late. Moved over to race centre track. SNewshawk 3rd through halfway & handled surface but faded off pace to lose 2 lengths to leaders overall. Receiving weight & poor form. 2nd & 4th at halfway faded much worse. Agent Boo does this regularly & short runner if not just plain poor. Ginger Ted not run as well in ST blinkers & on fibresand. Look for better form back on turf with less pace pressure on surface applied. 3 x 'closers' in 1st 5 home with Singeur, Janeiro & Go To Dubai 7-9th at halfway at 6-7 lengths off lead. ALL had moved over to race towards the far rail side early in the race, on better going & out of the worst kickback. Singeur particularly notable because giving weight, lost 2L+ at start & making real progress at finish & not just plugging onto a dead leader. Real promise & best horse in race on that. Janeiro & GTD both lost ground early, switch to far side & plug on without threatening to get to 4-5th. Just moderate promise at low level. No promise for surface elsewhere. Countrywide Ice another Kevin Ryan runner to stick to the stands' side and fade badly. Trainer & jockey know better than that so presumably some reason why they stayed on the slower part of the track in the last two races at the course. |
